A mass-produced model that retains the concept image

The prototype spotted on a public road in Germany is covered in heavy camouflage, but it is clear that the design follows the design language of the Vision Neue Klasse Concept unveiled in 2023. The concept car’s dramatic decoration has been toned down, but its cutting-edge image has not been lost.

No extra-large grill?

The front end retains the concept car’s signature “shark nose” profile, but features large, traditionally shaped LED headlights housed in a wide kidney grille, suggesting a move away from the oversized grilles seen on BMWs recently.

The body sides feature flared wheel arches reminiscent of the high-performance “M” model. The cabin, side mirrors, and flush door handles appear to be production models, but the wheels and high-profile tires on this prototype are likely test wheels.

We expect the high-mounted taillights to be close to the final design, and they’ll no doubt be replaced with more sophisticated LED clusters as the i3 nears production readiness.

The cockpit display has also been revamped.

Unfortunately, we were not able to see inside the cockpit.

Unfortunately, we were not able to see inside the cockpit, but it is rumored that the car will feature a wider touchscreen than the current model.

While the interior details were not available due to the cover, it is known that the production model will debut a “Panoramic Vision Display,” which will feature an infotainment touchscreen that spans the entire front and has a different shape than the current model.

Over 600PS with a range of 800km

The new battery is expected to achieve a high level of balance between power output and driving range.

The i3 sedan is rumoured to have a single-motor output of 300 PS, but a dual-motor version could produce over 600 PS, and its next-generation battery will reportedly allow it to travel over 800 km on a single charge, as well as offer ultra-fast charging capabilities.

The new i3 sedan is expected to debut one year after the iX3 SUV as the second model to adopt the Neue Klasse architecture.
