The next-generation A7 will be available as an Avant and a sedan

A prototype of the A7 Avant has already been spotted, but there was much interest in whether the other version would be a sedan or a fastback. Previous test vehicles had been disguised so that the trunk area’s boundaries were not visible. In this photo, the trunk can be clearly seen.

A7 sedan with a sporty impression

Although it is a sedan, the next-generation A7 gives off a sporty impression with its smooth slope from the roof to the rear window and short trunk.

The prototype’s smoothly sloping rear window and short trunk give it a coupe-like feel. The wheel arches are cut high at the rear fenders, giving it a slim appearance despite being a sedan. It will likely give the impression of a sporty A7, compared to the relatively formal Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series.

Can a PHEV travel over 100km on electric power?

The powertrain will likely be a 2.0-liter inline-four engine, either gasoline or diesel, mated to a front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) transmission, and will likely be available as a mild hybrid or plug-in hybrid, with the latter offering an EV range of over 100km per charge.
