Volkswagen Tayron
Clear exterior design typical of an SUV

The Tyrone features a clear exterior design that clearly identifies it as a Volkswagen SUV family vehicle, with the front and rear VW logos featuring a light-up function.
The Volkswagen Tyrone boasts a clear, powerful SUV-like design and a spacious interior that can accommodate five or seven passengers. When five people are seated, it also offers a convenient luggage space of up to 885 liters. A wide range of six power units are available, including the highly efficient plug-in hybrid “e-Hybrid” system.
The Tyrone is 4,800 mm long and features a clear design befitting an SUV. The front section is equipped with LED headlights and an illuminated Volkswagen badge as standard. At night, the “VW” badge placed in the center of the grille creates a light signature. The rear section, which has a simple design, is also equipped with an LED crossbar and an illuminated Volkswagen logo.
The plug-in hybrid model achieves a range of over 100 km in EV mode, allowing for long drives of up to 850 km without refueling. Furthermore, with a maximum towing capacity of 2.5 tons, the Tyrone can accommodate trailers of all shapes and sizes. Prior to its debut at the Paris Motor Show, orders began in Europe, including Germany, on October 10, 2024.
Filling the gap between the Tiguan and Touareg

The Tyrone was developed as a mid-size SUV to fill the gap between the luxury SUV Touareg and the popular Tiguan. It is available in two-row and three-row configurations to suit a wide range of users and applications.
Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, explains the reason for introducing the Tyrone:
“The new Tyrone is a true Volkswagen. Its quality is reflected in every detail and it will bring comfort and practicality to everyday life. It is also available with a wide range of powertrains. This new SUV further expands Volkswagen’s range in a growing segment and fills the gap between the best-selling Tiguan and the luxury Touareg SUV.”
Martin Sander, Member of the Board of Management for Sales, Marketing and Aftersales at Volkswagen Brand, added:
“The new Tyrone combines everything that Volkswagen stands for: versatility, comfort and new technology. With seating for up to seven people, a luxurious interior, generous storage space and an innovative drive system, this large SUV is the ideal companion for everyone. At the same time, the Tyrone is perfectly practical and efficient.”
An interior packed with standard equipment

The interior has a simple and solid impression typical of Volkswagen. A full range of standard equipment is introduced, including the entry-level “Life” line.
The interior is also designed in a solid Volkswagen style. Depending on the equipment line, various materials and equipment can be combined, such as recycled microfiber “ArtVelours Eco”, real wood, and illuminated decorative trim.
The entry-level model is the “Life” line, followed by two premium packages, “Elegance” and “R-Line.” Despite being the entry-level model, the Life line comes with a full range of standard equipment, including nine airbags, a three-zone automatic climate control system, 10-color ambient lighting, multifunction Driving Experience Control, an infotainment system (screen size 32cm), and a digital meter.
As is typical of the latest SUVs, even the entry-level model comes standard with a wide range of assist systems, including adaptive cruise control (ACC), oncoming vehicle braking function when cornering, lane change system, lane keeping system, automatic emergency braking system with pedestrian and cyclist monitor, Park Assist Plus, and a rearview camera system.
A wide range of options are also available, including adaptive chassis control “DCC Pro,” “IQ.LIGHT” HD matrix headlights with interactive lighting functions, “Travel Assist” that supports longitudinal and lateral guidance, IDA voice assistant (integrated with ChatGPT function), tilt-and-slide panoramic sunroof, Harman 700W sound system, and electrically adjustable seats with massage and ventilation functions.
A wide range of powertrains available, including PHEVs

The Tyrone will be available with a variety of powertrains, including the top-grade plug-in hybrid “e-Hybrid” model, as well as gasoline and diesel mild hybrids.
The Tyrone will be available with a wide range of powertrains, including plug-in hybrid, gasoline, and diesel, with four options available at launch. Two turbocharged gasoline (TSI) and two turbocharged diesel (TDI) engines will be fitted with the mild hybrid “eTSI,” and all drivetrains, including the plug-in hybrid “eHybrid” system with two specifications, will be mated to a direct shift gearbox (DSG).
The plug-in hybrid model combines the advantages of an electric motor and a gasoline engine. It is available with a maximum system output of 150kW (204PS) or 200kW (272PS). With a 19.7kWh lithium-ion battery, both models achieve a range of over 100km in EV mode. It supports charging at up to 11kW with an AC wall box/AC charging station, and up to 50kW with a DC fast charging station.
The 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder TDI turbodiesel engine, which produces a maximum output of 142kW (193PS), comes standard with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. The Tyrone 4MOTION model can accommodate trailer weights of up to 2,500kg, and the folding towing bracket and standard steering assist system, Trailer Assist, make it easy to hitch large cargo boxes or boat trailers.
