BLITZ × LAND CRUISER Series
Enriching everyone’s car life

Along with the compressor system, they are also working on the settings of the ZZ-R Spec DSC Plus damper. They are currently in the process of finding the recommended damping value and vehicle height, but initially they plan to lower the car rather than lift it up.
Blitz led the way during the heyday of domestic tuning cars, producing numerous functional parts, including those for monster-class tuning cars. Now, under the slogan “Tune Your Life,” the company is committed to creating products that enrich the car life of everyone, not just hardcore enthusiasts. Its broad scope includes popularizing adjustable suspension and lowering the barrier to increasing the potential of power units, including improvements to electronic control systems.
The Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport, now a complete car, and the Land Cruiser 250, currently in development, embody Blitz’s activities. When I visited for an interview in December 2024, the Land Cruiser 250’s compressor system was in the midst of development. The development vehicle was the 250VX. It was equipped with Toyota’s signature 2.7-liter inline-four (2TR-FE) gasoline engine. Its reliability and durability, capable of withstanding even the harshest conditions in remote regions around the world, have led to its widespread use in Land Cruisers and Hiace vehicles. However, many argue that its maximum output of 163 PS and maximum torque of 246 Nm are insufficient to power a heavy SUV. The underpowered performance becomes even more apparent when equipped with off-road tires or frequently carrying multiple passengers.
Make your Land Cruiser 250 more powerful

[1] The LM, which was exhibited as a concept car at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2024, is also continuing to mature. Body parts (Aero Speed R Concept) that create a unique look are fitted with ZZ-R Spec DSC Plus dampers, brakes, and more. It is an ambitious work that gives the LM even more individuality. [2] For the Land Cruiser 300GR Sport, the focus was on the intake rather than a turbocharger. A carbon intake system and power conditioner were developed to bring out its potential. The ZZ-R Spec DSC Plus dampers, which lift the front 34mm and the rear 26mm (both recommended values), are also fitted.
Blitz has continued to respond to this demand. In the past, they have supplied compressor systems (supercharger kits) for the same type of units in the Prado and Hiace. Utilizing that know-how, they are attempting to make the Land Cruiser 250 more powerful as well. However, it cannot be easily adapted from other models. Because the engine mounting position and pipe routing are significantly different, development centered on fitting was necessary. Although output data is not yet available, the 150-type Prado has achieved an on-top output of over +35 PS and +54 Nm, so the same can be expected for the Land Cruiser 250.
Furthermore, to make the most of the power unit, they are also developing a power conditioner that controls the airflow sensor within the range of the original ECU to increase power, and an exhaust system that improves exhaust efficiency. All of these are coupler-on or bolt-on, so they are easy to install without any unnecessary hassle, which is typical of Blitz. This is an example of their “Tune Your Life” philosophy.
32-level damping force adjustment function

[1] The “power conditioner” that combines the functions of a throttle controller and a sub-computer into one is also a masterpiece that is typical of Blitz. It is a completely plug-and-play design, so no wiring modifications are required. Of course, it stays within the control range of the original ECU, but it also has the effect of improving acceleration, power, and response. [2] We were in the process of developing an on-top compressor system (supercharger kit) for the 2.7-liter inline 4-cylinder (2TR-FE type) for the Land Cruiser 250. While using a Roots-type supercharger, a dedicated fuel controller means there is no need to reset the ECU. It uses the original air cleaner box, so it delivers stable performance in any climate.
In parallel, development of the suspension is also progressing. The company is adapting the full-length adjustable suspension system “Damper ZZ-R Spec DSC Plus,” which is now Blitz’s flagship product, to the Land Cruiser 250. This system has a 32-stage damping force adjustment function, and its selling point is that it can be changed instantly using the LCD monitor inside the car. This will allow the Land Cruiser 250 to be tailored to your preferred ride feel. This time, they are deliberately experimenting with lowering the car.
The Land Cruiser 250’s program is scheduled to be unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2025, and will continue to be refined after that. We look forward to the day when it will come to fruition as a high-quality complete car, like the Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport.
