Jaguar V12 engine restoration project

This is a 5.0-liter V12 naturally aspirated engine for the Jaguar XJ13, one of only two in existence in the world. The Jaguar XJ13 has completed its restoration project and undergone a test drive.

Since announcing the “True Spirit of XJ13” project in early 2024, the JD Classics engineering team has been hard at work restoring an original Jaguar 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, boasting over 500 PS. The JD Classics V12 is the world’s only remaining original XJ13 engine, excluding the Jaguar-owned XJ13 currently housed at the British Motor Museum. With Christmas fast approaching, the culmination of this 45-year project saw Financial Times motoring journalist Simon de Burton take the wheel and roar down the runway at Henstridge Airfield in Somerset.

Meanwhile, a collaborative event between JD Classics and Clarendon Fine Art kicked off at Dover Street Gallery in London’s Mayfair, showcasing a 1965 Ford GT Super Performance car owned by James Martin. Founded in 2010 by Helen Swaby, Clarendon Fine Art presents a wide range of art and sculpture to the world, and has a long-standing relationship with JD Classics.

In response to its expanding restoration business, JD Classics has decided to move its headquarters back to its original base in Maldon, Essex. The new factory complex brings together areas for historic car repair and restoration, maintenance, preparation for race events, and showrooms in one place.
