McLaren Automotive will introduce a limited run of 22 special edition “GTS Signature Collection” vehicles exclusively for the Japanese market, further enhancing the appeal of the rear-wheel drive Gran Turismo “GTS” equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine.

The McLaren Technology Centre (MTC), designed by Norman Foster, known for works such as Hong Kong International Airport and Tokyo’s Century Tower, has been highly praised for its cutting-edge architectural design. The essence of the design is balance and harmony. When viewed from above, the building and lake form a perfect circle, based on the yin-yang motif. This shape has been embodied in the design and is used as the home button for the infotainment system of all models.

The water from the lake adjacent to the building is also functional, as it contributes to the release of large amounts of heat generated by the building’s air conditioning and wind tunnel experiments via a heat exchanger. The internal structure of the building also ensures that each department maintains its independence while ensuring a flow of movement that encourages cooperation.

The “GTS Signature Collection,” which will be introduced exclusively in Japan this time, was developed as a model that reflects the unique design concept embodied in MTC. Each of the four themes, “Howthorn,” “Paragon,” “Rotunda,” and “Reflection,” is given its own special equipment, and everything from the body color to the interior pays homage to McLaren’s home base.

The four exterior themes were deliberately understated. The body colors were developed specifically for the limited edition, each with its own unique story connected to the MTC. Two wheel colors are also available, a first for the GTS. The mirror housings feature a delicate pattern that is also used in the MTC motif.

Various details inspired by “MCT”

The McLaren GTS Signature Collection is divided into four themes: "Reflection."

Various details are used in various parts of the interior, including a fascia plate inspired by the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC).

The interior further deepens the connection with MTC, with shapes extracted from architectural design being used in various parts. The “MTC” logo, which is also used on the infotainment buttons, is embroidered on the headrests to blend in with the seat fabric. The fascia plate on the passenger side dashboard beautifully highlights the side silhouette of MTC when backlit.

Looking at the fascia plates inside the doors, a portion of an overhead view from the MTC design drawings has been cut out and sewn into the design as tonal stitching in a similar color. Everything from the overall atmosphere of the interior to the details is finished in a way that gives it a McLaren “home” feel.

Theme 1: Hawthorn

The McLaren GTS Signature Collection is comprised of four themes called "Hawthorn."

The deep green metallic color “Hawthorne” was chosen, inspired by the rich natural environment surrounding the MTC.

“Hawthorne” was inspired by the rich natural environment of the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC). The theme was named after the hawthorn trees that grow in abundance around the campus. The deep green metallic “Hawthorne” evokes the environment that shapes McLaren’s philosophy.

The bespoke paint job is a special edition that combines a deep black finish with a vibrant green paint effect, and is completed with satin-finish GT Silver 10-spoke Turbine forged alloy wheels and Graphite Grey brake calipers.

The interior is upholstered in bespoke Almond White semi-aniline leather with striking tonal contrast stitching.

Theme 2: Paragon

The McLaren GTS Signature Collection is comprised of four themes called "Paragon."

The Paragon features a beautiful Paragon Black exterior color.

“Paragon” was inspired by the tiles that lined the boulevards of the MTC. The exterior color, “Paragon Black,” features a sparkling finish with silver metallic flakes and was named after the project name “Paragon” when the MTC was built.

The satin-finished GT Silver Turbine forged wheels and graphite gray calipers express the beauty of the metal structure seen in the MTC’s architecture, and contrast with the Almond White semi-aniline leather interior, evoking the contrast of light and shadow that envelops the MTC.

Theme 3: Rotunda

The McLaren GTS Signature Collection features four themes called "Rotonda."

The Rotunda pays homage to the long corridor beneath MCT and the circular entrance that leads to it.

The “Rotonda” design is inspired by the long, white hallway that stretches through the basement floor of the MTC and the circular entrance (rotunda) that leads to it. The “Rotonda White” paint is a solid off-white color that conveys a clean and tidy atmosphere.

The dark palladium-finish turbine wheels and graphite grey calipers complement the grey tile of the interior, while the Scoria Grey semi-aniline leather interior with tonal stitching highlights the harmony of light and shadow.

Theme 4: Reflection

The McLaren GTS Signature Collection is divided into four themes: "Reflection."

The Reflection interior features Scoria Grey semi-aniline leather seats with tonal stitching.

The “Reflection” finish is inspired by the McLaren Technology Centre’s iconic lake, reflected in the building’s glass facade. The “Reflection Green” paint has a unique base containing silver metallic flakes, recreating the way sunlight sparkling on the water reflects off the MTC’s glass architecture.

The wheels are finished in dark palladium to contrast with the body colour, while the interior features Scoria Grey semi-aniline leather seats with tonal stitching, showcasing the finest tailoring craftsmanship.
