Renault 5 Turbo 3E
Featured in a film about Renault’s revival

Renault chose the Amazon Prime Video documentary “Anatomy of a Comeback,” which depicts the company’s comeback, as the venue to unveil the production version of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, which was unveiled as a concept car in 2022.
“Anatomy of a Comeback,” a documentary that follows the revival of Renault after it fell into a management crisis, began streaming on Amazon Prime Video on December 13th.
In the early 2020s, Renault, on the brink of bankruptcy, came up with a transformation roadmap unprecedented in the automotive industry: “Renaultlution.” The documentary “Anatomy of a Comeback,” which follows the Renaultlution process, is packed with rare footage that you would never normally see, such as the design process of the Renault 5, development, and the paddock of the Alpine F1 team.
In a world first, Renault unveiled the new model for the first time in a documentary film. At the end of Episode 4, Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo, Renault Brand CEO Fabrice Cambolive, and Renault Vice President of Design Gilles Vidal visit Renault’s design department and meet the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, which has been developed for commercial use.
Equipped with an electric powertrain that produces over 500 PS

Paying homage to the original 5 Turbo’s rear-midship, rear-wheel drive design, the 5 Turbo 3E will debut as a rear-wheel drive EV with two motors mounted on the rear axle.
“Anatomy of a Comeback” also revealed some information about the production model. The “5 Turbo 3E,” unveiled as a concept car at the 2022 Paris Motor Show, features exterior details that pay homage to the original “5 Turbo” and “5 Turbo 2,” including impressive front and rear fenders. The production model also features the “Renault Works” color scheme of yellow, black, and white, familiar from the 5 Turbo that competed in the World Rally Championship (WRC) in the 1980s.
The 5 Turbo 3E features a retro-future design with wide fenders reminiscent of Group B rally cars, and is equipped with Renault’s latest fully electric powertrain. Lightweight and highly rigid carbon fiber is actively used in the body shell. The rear air intake, which is synonymous with the 5 Turbo, is equipped with a modern charging port.
Paying homage to the original 5 Turbo’s rear-mid mounted engine and rear-wheel drive, the 5 Turbo 3E employs a rear-wheel drive layout with two electric motors mounted on the rear axle. Maximum system output exceeds 500 PS, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.5 seconds, achieving acceleration performance that surpasses that of a super sports car.
44 years after the launch of the original 5 Turbo, Renault celebrated the world premiere of this ultimate sports icon in “Anatomy of a Comeback.” A variety of events are planned to further celebrate the debut of the 5 Turbo 3E in 2025.
