Lamborghini Pregunta
Diablo-based design concept

The Lamborghini Pregunta, which was first unveiled at the 1998 Paris Motor Show, was based on the Diablo and had a special exterior designed by French manufacturer Hullier.
Zoute Grand Prix Car Week will be held in the Belgian resort town of Knokke-Heist from October 8th to 12th, 2025. Broad Arrow Auctions, a subsidiary of Hagerty, will be holding the first-ever Zoute Concours Auction in collaboration with the organizers on October 10th during the event.
More than 75 cars are expected to be on display at the Zoute Concours auction, and the biggest attraction will likely be the Pregunta, released by Lamborghini in 1998. The Pregunta was created through a collaboration between Lamborghini and the French body manufacturer Heuliez. This will be its first appearance at auction, and it is expected to fetch an estimated bid of 2.5 million to 3.5 million euros (434 million to 600 million yen).
Development of the Pregunta began during the Chrysler era, and it was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 1998, just a few months after Volkswagen’s acquisition. Based on the Diablo, it featured a 5.7-liter V12 engine mounted in the rear mid-mounted position.
Joe Twyman, Vice President, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Broad Arrow Auctions, commented on Pregunta:
“The Lamborghini Pregunta is a stunning masterpiece that combines the superior performance of the Diablo with the fighter jet-like design of Yurie. We are extremely honored to be able to offer this historic super sports car to the collector car market. This market debut is sure to garner a great response from collectors around the world.”
Inspired by Rafale fighter jets

The Pregunta was inspired by the French multirole fighter jet Dassault Rafale, and features huge air intakes reminiscent of fighter jet air intakes.
The Pregunta was styled by Marc Deschamps, head of design at Hurie, who had previously worked on the Lamborghini Jalpa. When the concept car was unveiled in Paris, it made headlines and garnered a great response from the public.
Like the Reventon, which was released in 2007, the Pregunta is inspired by aircraft, with the French fighter jet, the Dassault Rafale, as the inspiration. It features a carbon fiber bodywork manufactured by Hurie, and a huge air intake inspired by a fighter jet. The exterior features canopy-style scissor doors, wraparound glass, and the same matte gray paint as the Rafale.
The chassis is based on the Diablo and has been significantly improved, changing from all-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive. The 5.7-liter V12 naturally aspirated engine produces a maximum output of 537 PS and a maximum torque of 605 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is just 3.9 seconds, and the top speed reaches 337 km/h. The quicksilver exhaust emits a sound reminiscent of a fighter jet.
Yurie, who designed it, has owned it for a long time.

Pregunta was owned by Iulie until 2007, after which it was sold to a private owner and officially certified by Lamborghini Polo Storico.
The interior is also designed to resemble a fighter jet, with glass screens, azure blue Alcantara fighter-style seats, fiber optic lighting, a rearview camera, an F1-derived Magneti Marelli digital instrument cluster displaying basic information to the driver, and an Alpine audio system.
The Pregunta had a major influence on subsequent Lamborghini designs, ultimately contributing to the creation of the Murciélago. Long owned by Hurie, it continued to be shown at exhibitions and promotional events around the world for a decade after its Paris debut.
The last public appearance under Iulie’s ownership was as a Retromobile in 2007. In 2008, Iulie sold it to a private collector, and in 2014 Lamborghini Polo Storico issued an official certificate of authenticity. Polo Storico has since serviced and maintained this unique concept car, which will also be on display at the Lamborghini Museum in Sant’Agata in 2021.
Gregory Tuytens, Head of Belgium & Netherlands at Broad Arrow Auctions, added:
“The Pregunta is an incredible piece of supercar history, and its history, having just concluded its exhibition at the Lamborghini Museum in Sant’Agata, makes it even more valuable. We expect the auction to be extremely competitive.”
