JAGUAR TYPE 00

A model that brings excitement like the “E-Type”

Jaguar is currently undergoing a restructuring of its brand, and is making a bold change in its design direction. The new model to be released in 2025 will introduce the latest design language, which was previewed with the Type 00.

Following the unveiling of its bold new visual identity in November 2024, Jaguar has unveiled its Type 00 design vision concept, which showcases the transformation, for the first time in the world at Miami Art Week, currently taking place in South Florida, USA.

The “Type 00” previews the design of the new four-door GT scheduled for introduction in 2025. It features an original design that overturns the concept of electric vehicles (EVs), including a long nose, flowing roofline, fastback style, and 23-inch alloy wheels. JLR (Jaguar Land Rover) CEO Adrian Mardell gave the following explanation about the “Type 00”:

“The magical power of Jaguar to captivate people is something that is truly dear to my heart. Jaguar is the original British luxury brand, with its heritage, artistry and emotional appeal. That is the Jaguar we aspire to be, and we want to create the same emotions as iconic models like the E-Type.”

“Jaguar is currently undergoing a transformation to become a dedicated EV brand with a range of exciting new and exclusive luxury vehicles. This transformation is not just about the products we develop, it’s about reimagining the brand as a whole.”

The car’s name means the new generation Jaguar “Car Zero”.

The “Type” in Type 00 is a revival of Jaguar’s traditional car name, “Type.” “00” signifies zero emissions and the fact that it is the “zeroth car” for the new Jaguar.

The Type 00 embodies Jaguar’s new creative philosophy, “Exuberant Modernism.” The “TYPE” in the name comes from the names of models such as the “E-Type,” which can be said to be the origin of the brand.

The first zero represents “zero emissions,” while the second zero expresses the fact that this is the “zeroth car” for the new Jaguar. The exterior design, which overturns conventional wisdom about EVs, creates a dramatic silhouette that completely changes the image of Jaguar.

This bold design is developed based on the exclusive platform “JEA (Jaguar Electric Architecture).” The introduction of the latest fully electric powertrain “JEA” delivers an engaging driving experience, top-level handling, and a comfortable ride. The latest electrification technology and a unique design will allow Jaguar to establish a distinctive identity in an increasingly homogenous EV market.

The Type 00 heralds the new Jaguar’s first production model, a four-door fully electric GT, scheduled for release in the second half of 2025. This new four-door GT is currently being developed with the goal of achieving a maximum range of 770km (WLTP mode) on a single charge and a rapid charge of up to 321km in just 15 minutes.

Dramatic and unique exterior

The Type 00 is a car that completely redefines the image of Jaguar, with simple lines and bold forms. The new Jaguar logo is placed on various parts of the body.

The confident front end features flush vertical surfaces and a new centrally placed Jaguar device mark. Distinctive, precise front light signatures accentuate the vehicle’s edges, creating a sense of width and stability.

The boldly proportioned side sections are framed by handcrafted brass ingots with laser-etched Jaguar “leaper” designs. The ingots retract to reveal a rearview camera when required, while the charging port and front air intakes remain hidden when not in use.

The rear section features a glass-less tailgate and a panoramic glass roof that blends in with the body. The rear elevation features a horizontal strike-through graphic. By deliberately hiding the dramatic full-width taillights, the car exudes power and scale.

Just as the two E-Types were unveiled at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, two contrasting Type 00s have now been unveiled. The first is clad in Satin Rawdon Rose, which has been given the name Miami Pink, a nod to the pastel hues of Miami’s iconic Art Deco architecture, inspired by the way brass ages to a distinctive rose hue.

The other car is available in the “Inception Silver Blue” exterior color, while the “London Blue” color is inspired by the opalescent silver blue of the 1960s and evokes Jaguar’s British roots.

Dramatic modern interior

The interior features three handmade brass lines running from front to rear.

The dramatic butterfly doors and pantograph tailgate open to reveal a modern, sculpted interior with ample proportions. Three handcrafted brass lines run from front to rear, and a 3.2m central brass pillar boldly divides the floating instrument panel.

The tranquil travertine stone forms the base for the floating seats and central support pillar, and also serves as inspiration for the rich layered colours in the interior, where woven textiles emphasise Jaguar’s traditional craftsmanship.

Jaguar’s design team has introduced the ability for passengers to customise the interior to suit their mood with the use of a bespoke Prism Case, housed in a box with electrically operated doors on the side of the body, which contains totems crafted from three natural materials: brass, travertine and alabaster.

When a Totem is placed within the centre console, the interior ambience automatically adjusts, with ambient lighting, a unique soundscape and customised screen graphics all adapting to reflect the characteristics of the selected Totem material.

The display screen also takes a rich, artistic approach to stimulating the senses, with custom animations generated using a technique called “chiaroscuro,” which uses light and shadow to create three-dimensional objects.
