BMW M2 Racing
Sold at dedicated dealers in Tokyo and Osaka

The BMW M2 Racing will be sold at BMW M Motorsport dealers Motoren Tohto (Tokyo) and Elbe Auto (Osaka) for 21 million yen.
The M2, developed by BMW M GmbH, which handles BMW’s high-performance models, is the most compact BMW M model, carrying on the tradition of the BMW 2002, which debuted in 1973, and the first-generation M3, which became the benchmark for high-performance sports cars when it was released in 1985. The first-generation M2 was announced in 2016, and the M2 currently on sale is the second generation.
The current M2 boasts a compact body, the only rear-wheel drive concept in its segment, and an ideal 50:50 front-rear weight distribution, ensuring agile handling and outstanding road holding performance. The powerful styling and high cornering performance characteristic of an M model provide the ultimate in driving pleasure.
The M2 Racing, developed based on the current M2, is a circuit-only model developed by BMW M GmbH that delivers high performance in the racing scene while being priced affordably. The engine is not the 3.0-liter inline-6 twin-turbo found in the road car, but a B48-type 2.0-liter inline-4 M TwinPower Turbo that produces a maximum output of 313 PS (230 kW) and a maximum torque of 420 Nm. The transmission is an 8-speed automatic controlled by software specifically for motorsports.
Many racing car-specific features are used

The M2 Racing will be introduced as an entry-level racing car, but it comes standard with a number of full-fledged circuit features, including a welded safety roll cage that complies with FIA regulations.
The M2 Racing car being introduced in Japan will have a body color of “Alpine White III.” It is DMSB (German Motorsport Federation) certified and is equipped with a chassis with a welded safety roll cage that complies with FIA regulations, quick-release locks for the hood and trunk, and front and rear towing hooks that comply with regulations.
Other standard features include a drive shaft manufactured exclusively for the M2 Racing, KW motorsport-specific shock absorbers using GT3 technology, a mechanical limited slip differential with a preloaded individual cooling system, Makrolon rear side windows with tank filler necks, a lightweight CFRP roof, an FIA-compliant fire extinguisher system, and an FIA-certified ATL FT3 safety fuel tank.
The 2.0-liter engine is easy to maintain and cost-effective, and will support the racing activities of gentleman drivers who want to race for as long and as often as possible.
