Alpine A106
The tricolored “A106”

Shortly after founding Alpine, Jean Rédélé showed the tricolor A108 to his superiors in an attempt to gain cooperation from Renault.
Seventy years ago, in June 1955, Renault dealer Jean Rédélé founded Alpine. A few days later, he presented three A106s, his own design based on the Renault 4CV, to Renault executives. Lined up in front of a historic building southwest of Paris, the blue, white, and red cars, the young entrepreneur skillfully staged his ambition to launch a French sports brand based on Renault powertrains.
His confidence and ability to direct impressed his superiors and he soon gained the support of Renault headquarters, marking the beginning of Alpine’s adventure through innovative ideas, cutting-edge technology and motorsport that continues to this day.
The video series “Alpine, 70 years”, celebrating Alpine’s 70th anniversary, looks back on this epic story full of achievements and challenges, recounting historic events from its inception with testimonies from those involved.
