The Q6 e-tron Off-road Concept is based on the Audi Q6 e-tron, with a 160mm increase in ride height and a 250mm wider tread to achieve driving performance on any road surface.

The Audi Q6 e-tron Off-Road Concept, developed based on the new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) electric architecture, is equipped with two electric motors that deliver a combined system output of 380 kW (517 PS). Thanks to a newly developed portal axle, it is even capable of climbing ski jumps.

The vehicle height has been increased by 160 mm and the track width has been widened by 250 mm compared to the base Q6 e-tron, giving it a massive appearance that is typical of a big-foot off-road vehicle. Gernot Dörner, CEO of Audi AG, gave the following explanation about this concept model:

“The Q6 e-tron Off-Road Concept is a reinterpretation of Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive model. It demonstrates the potential already available with our fully electric platform. We are looking forward to seeing how customers react to this highly emotional vehicle that will break new ground.”

Portal axle allows for steep climbs

The impressive BigFoot was made possible by Audi’s newly developed portal axle (an axle that creates ground clearance below the center of the axle). This newly developed portal axle was incorporated into each suspension.

While conventional portal axles could only increase torque by 20 to 30 percent, Audi’s portal axle, developed from scratch, claims to be able to increase torque by as much as 50 percent. The Q6 e-tron Offroad Concept features four new portal axles integrated into the wheel hub assemblies of the front and rear axles.

The Q6 e-tron also has some modifications to its original suspension links. These improvements give it the ability to climb steep gradients of up to 45 degrees, but the vehicle’s top speed is limited to 175 km/h.

The Q6 e-tron Off-Road Concept will be unveiled to the public at the FAT Ice Race on February 1, 2025.
