This year’s model is the 25th generation

New GR Yaris Aero Performance Package
Since its debut in September 2020, the GR Yaris is a compact sports car that has been competing in a variety of motorsports, including the WRC (World Rally Championship) and the Super Taikyu Series. Whether it’s a rally or a race, motorsports can be described as the most extreme of environments, so countermeasures for problems that arise are ideal for honing cars, especially sports cars. During actual competitions, the team studied driving data, steering feel, and damaged parts when malfunctions occurred, and made repeated improvements.
The latest GR Yaris, which has undergone these improvements, has been on sale since May 2025 as the 25th model. In order to standardize the names of the successive models, Toyota has designated the initial model that debuted in 2020 as the 20th model, the model announced in 2024 as the 24th model, and the latest model that was released this year as the 25th model.
The improvements to the Type 25 include the following six points: (1) An evolution of the GAZOO Racing Direct AT (hereinafter referred to as GR-DAT). (2) The use of special high-rigidity bolts for some of the chassis parts. (3) Optimization of shock absorber and EPS tuning. (4) Enlargement of the footrest for vehicles equipped with GR-DAT. (5) A vertical parking brake is now an option for all grades. (6) Toyota Safety Sense is now standard on all vehicles.

New GR Yaris Aero Performance Package
This time, the GR Yaris Aero Performance Package was developed together with the works driver based on the Type 25 to overcome the challenges that arose during motorsports activities. The Aero Performance Package consists of the following six items aimed at improving the cooling and aerodynamic performance of the GR Yaris, and the effects are maximized when all items are installed at the same time.
(1) Aluminum hood with duct

Aluminum hood with duct
The aluminum hood with ducts is the same shape as the carbon fiber hood used on the GRMN Yaris, which was developed in advance for a car competing in the All Japan Rally. When driving at high speeds, the ducts release heat from inside the engine compartment, improving the cooling effect.
(2) Front lip spoiler

front lip spoiler
To achieve a high level of aerodynamic balance, front lift has been reduced to enhance the front’s sense of contact with the ground, improving the overall lift balance.
(3) Fender duct

Fender duct
By releasing the air that accumulates inside the wheelhouse to the rear, steering feel during nose dives and handling stability at corner entrances have been improved.
(4) Fuel tank undercover

Fuel tank undercover
By flattening the bottom of the safety fuel tank, air flow under the body is optimized, improving aerodynamic performance.
(5) Adjustable rear wing

Adjustable rear wing
The large rear wing contributes to handling stability at high speeds and also suppresses the snake-like phenomenon during braking. It is manually adjustable, so you can have fun changing the wing angle depending on the driving situation.
(6) Rear bumper duct

Rear bumper duct
This reduces the air resistance of the rear bumper and lowers the Cd value. It was developed based on the experience of a rear bumper coming off during a tough race.
The Aero Performance Package will be available in two grades, RZ High Performance and RC, and will go on sale from October 1st. As of September 12th, a demo car is on display at the Toyota Motor Corporation showroom in Midland Square in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture.
