Porsche Cayenne GTS Coupe
0-100km/h acceleration 4.4 seconds, maximum speed 275km/h

Only the GTS and the top-of-the-line Turbo E-Hybrid have black moldings covering the wheel arches, giving them a wild, SUV-like feel.
The Cayenne, the backbone of Porsche, is currently in its third generation and is undergoing a major minor change in 2023. A new addition to the current model is the GTS. The GTS grade has traditionally been positioned as the highest-end naturally aspirated 911 model excluding the GT3, making it a serious model. Now that the Carrera has been turbocharged, the GTS has become the top-of-the-line model in the Carrera series, and the same is true for the Cayenne. With E-hybrids now the norm in the Cayenne, the GTS is the top-of-the-line non-hybrid model.
The biggest feature of the new Cayenne GTS is its V8 engine. The previous GTS was equipped with a V6, but this new model has made a comeback with a V8. The 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo produces 500 PS and 660 Nm. It’s still quite heavy at 2,200 kg, but it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 275 km/h. That said, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid weighs 2,440 kg despite being a V6, so this weight is probably due to it being a non-hybrid.
Another attraction of the Cayenne GTS is its sporty equipment. Adaptive air suspension and PASM are standard, the car is lowered by 10mm, and PTV Plus is also included. It also comes equipped with black fender arches, a powerful diffuser, and a sports exhaust system, giving it a truly masculine look. While its maximum power is inferior to the 739PS Turbo E-Hybrid, this GTS is the sportiest grade! Just by looking at the exterior, you can clearly see that Porsche claims this.
A comfortable engine for pickup

[1] The V8 twin-turbo engine produces a maximum output of 500 PS from a displacement of 4.0 liters. The maximum torque of 660 Nm is available from 2100 rpm. [2] Equipped with a sports exhaust system with two central outlets. Selecting the sport mode produces an even more powerful exhaust sound. [3] Equipped with six-piston brakes in the front and four-piston brakes in the rear. PCCB is also available as an option.
When I opened the door, the gingham check sports seats caught my eye. This is a pattern that was used in the narrow-gauge 911 and is sometimes used in limited edition 911 models. The fact that this option is available suggests that the Cayenne GTS is quite conscious of Porsche fleek. The GT sports steering wheel, made of Alcantara material called Race-Tex, also creates a cockpit atmosphere that is just like a 911.
The driving experience is as impressive as its looks. First of all, the engine pickup is pleasant. Modern turbo engines barely have any noticeable turbo lag, but even so, the engine’s instant response to even the slightest movement of the accelerator is amazing. And as you step on the gas, the power and torque come on linearly, making the car extremely easy to control. And the V8 sound you hear at that moment is enough to bring a smile to your face. The reason the V8 was brought back to the Cayenne GTS was probably to let owners enjoy this exhaust.
Great as a family car

[1] The carbon fiber roof is part of the optional lightweight sports package. It is an effective feature for SUVs with a high center of gravity. [2] GT sports seats are standard equipment. The center of the test car was gingham checked, reminiscent of the old 911. [3] The GT sports steering wheel with its Race-Tex rim gives the car an atmosphere reminiscent of the cockpit of a 911. The shift lever is located to the left of the meter.
The suspension is moderately firm, and despite its large body, it’s easy to keep the car on the intended line. The test car was equipped with the optional rear axle steering, but I was impressed by the high level of control, which made me forget its size. And yet, the ride is not bad, so it would be a very satisfying car for a family.
The latest Cayenne GTS is worthy of its traditional name. The Cayenne has a rich lineup, but the GTS is the grade with the best balance of driving, practicality, and cost performance. Now that I know this, I may not be satisfied with anything less, but I personally don’t think I need anything more.
