The Q4 e-tron, with its compact body size positioned between the Q3 and Q5, has been well received for its size that suits Japanese urban areas, and achieved domestic sales of 2,000 units in 2023.

The Audi Q4 e-tron series is the third model in the fully electric e-tron series, and was introduced in the premium compact SUV segment in 2021. It was introduced into the compact SUV segment, which is also popular in the Japanese market, and achieved domestic sales of 2,000 units in 2023.

The Q4 e-tron series uses the MEB (Modular Electrification Platform), a platform exclusively for EVs. With a total length of 4,590 mm and a total width of 1,865 mm, it is a compact body size that falls between the Q3 and Q5, but its interior length exceeds that of the Q5, and its interior space and luggage capacity are equivalent to those of higher-end models.

The Q4 45 e-tron has 520 liters of luggage space, while the Q4 Sportback 45 e-tron has 535 liters. By folding down the rear seats, a flat, large-capacity space of 1,490 liters and 1,460 liters appears, respectively. The interior also features a total of 24.8 liters of storage space, including cup holders.

Driving range on a single charge increased to 613km

The fully electric powertrain delivers a maximum output of 210kW, up 60kW from the previous model. Despite the power increase, the maximum cruising range has been extended to 613km.

The Q4 45 e-tron and Q4 Sportback 45 e-tron being introduced in Japan this time have significantly upgraded electric motor performance compared to the previous 40 e-tron, delivering a maximum output of 210 kW (285 PS) and a maximum torque of 545 Nm.

The drive battery, which uses 400V technology and has a total capacity of 82kWh (net capacity 77kWh), is installed under the floor between the front and rear axles. The RWD version, which is equipped with a single electric motor on the rear axle, is given an acceleration performance of 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds. The strength of the regenerative braking while driving can be adjusted in three stages using the paddle shifters. It also has a “B mode” and is compatible with “one-pedal drive,” which allows you to adjust the speed using only the accelerator pedal.

Despite the increased power output, the driving range on a single charge is now 613km, an increase of 19km compared to the previous model. Standard 200V charging is 3kW, with up to 8kW available as an option. Rapid charging is compatible with the 125kW “CHAdeMO” standard, allowing charging from 5% to 80% in 38 minutes.

An advanced form with high aerodynamic performance

Various components have been introduced to various parts of the body to improve the aerodynamic level, achieving a high Cd value despite being a tall SUV.

The exterior adopts the common language of Audi EVs, including a short front overhang, muscular fenders, a beautiful roofline, flowing side lines, a horizontal rear section that emphasizes the wide proportions, and the octagonal single-frame grille common to the Q family.

Thanks to electrically operated cooling air inlets, vertical deflectors on the front spoiler, three-dimensional wheel deflectors, and exterior mirror housings and tailgate shapes designed for optimized aerodynamic performance, the Q4 e-tron achieves a Cd value of 0.28, while the Q4 Sportback e-tron achieves a Cd value of 0.26.

The body types are the SUV “Q4 e-tron” and the stylish coupe SUV “Q4 Sportback e-tron.” Two grades are available: “advanced” and “S line.”

The “advanced” model features a Hecla Gray front grille and 19-inch aluminum wheels. The “S line” model features a Platinum Gray grille combined with chrome parts, and the front bumper and upper part of the side sills are colored in Selenite Silver. The 20-inch aluminum wheels emphasize the car’s sporty character.

The car features matrix LED headlights and LED rear combination lights, and comes standard with dynamic turn indicators. The matrix LED headlights feature digital daytime running lights that can be selected from four different designs via the MMI.
