Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom
Winner in the “Open Sea” class

The electric boat “Flauscher x Porsche 850 Phantom” competed in the “Open Sea” speed class of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge and won the championship.
The Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, in which the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Phantom participated, is an event that has recently gained attention as an opportunity to promote innovation in sustainable maritime mobility, and is supported by several environmental organizations, including the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation (an environmental research foundation established by the Prince in 2006).
The aim of the event is to promote technological advancements in zero-emission powertrains and to verify their performance in real-world environments. In the “Speed” category, average speeds are measured over two 1-kilometer journeys, and efficiency and performance are verified and evaluated in real-world ocean conditions.
The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Phantom entered in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge was a fully production-spec boat painted in Porsche’s automotive exterior color, Oak Green Metallic Neo. The boat, with its closed foredeck, competed in the speed “Open Sea” class and won, beating top international teams.
Introducing the Macan Turbo’s electric powertrain

The e-Phantom drive unit, which delivers a maximum output of 400kW, is derived from the rear-axle powertrain of the Macan Turbo.
The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Phantom measures a manageable 8,670mm long and 2,490mm wide, and is equipped with the e-Phantom drive unit, which is based on the fully electric powertrain found in the Porsche Macan. To transfer the technology from road to water, Porsche has adopted the rear-axle powertrain from its most powerful Macan Turbo.
The state-of-the-art permanently excited synchronous electric motor (PSM) delivers a maximum output of 400 kW. The electric motor is located in the rear section of the boat and is housed in a waterproof box embossed with the Porsche logo. The 100 kWh lithium-ion battery, also taken from the Macan Turbo, is located beneath the rear lounge area. Wire rope-mounted suspension also helps absorb large impacts, such as those generated by rough seas and high-speed driving.
Prince Albert II of Monaco also took notice

Prince Albert II of Monaco has also taken an interest in the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Phantom, and was able to take time out of the event to receive an explanation from the team about its performance. Stephan Frauscher, Managing Director of Frauscher Bootswerft, expressed his delight:
“We are extremely proud that the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Phantom has been able to demonstrate its true potential in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. This success not only showcases the boat’s technological innovation, but also marks an important milestone in the development of electric powertrains in the maritime industry.”
“By combining the all-electric powertrain technology from the Porsche Macan with our know-how at Frauscher Shipyard, we have created an electric boat like no other before.”
Jörg Kellner, Vice President Product Line for the Macan, who played a key role in the development of the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Phantom, added:
“We are very pleased with the great success in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, which proves that Porsche electric powertrains can deliver top performance not only on the road but also on the water.”
