Flagship SUV and latest compact hatch

Peugeot 5008
The annual New Year’s custom car festival, “Tokyo Auto Salon 2026,” kicked off at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. Stellantis Japan, which is exhibiting for the first time, unveiled three new French brand models, the “Peugeot 5008,” “Citroën C5 Aircross,” and “DS Automobiles No. 4,” all for the first time in Japan at the event.
The Peugeot 5008 is a three-row, seven-seat hybrid SUV that is a sibling of Peugeot’s popular SUV, the 3008. The model introduced in Japan this time is the third generation, built on the STLA medium platform. As the three-row seating suggests, it is 4.8m long, making it a large SUV as Stellantis claims. The powertrain is a hybrid model that combines a 1.2-liter gasoline turbo engine that produces 145PS with a six-speed DCT. It is scheduled to be introduced in Japan around spring.

DS Automobile No. 4
Citroën’s crossover SUV, the C5 Aircross, is the second generation and had its world premiere in April 2025. This flagship SUV is built on the same STLA medium platform as the Peugeot 5008 and seats five. Like the 5008, it is a hybrid model that combines a 1.2-liter gasoline turbo with a 6-speed DCT, boasting a fuel economy of 19.4km/L in WLTC mode. It is said to boast a comfortable interior, typical of Citroën, and a smooth ride thanks to its PHC suspension. It is scheduled to be introduced in Japan around spring.
DS Automobiles’ “Number 4” is an improved new model of the compact hatchback “DS 4,” and has been renamed along with the adoption of a new design. DS Automobiles was launched in 2014 as a premium brand derived from Citroën, and the Number 4, unveiled for the first time in Japan, is a core model that faithfully embodies the important concepts of “making travel a time to free the senses” and “making everyday life a time to feel richer.” The compact body is said to be packed with DS’s aesthetic sense, luxury, and technology.
