Stellantis Japan unveiled the new Peugeot 3008 for the first time in Japan. The new 3008, which will have its world premiere in 2023, is a C-segment SUV that is the first to use Stellantis’ newly developed STLA Medium platform for electric vehicles. This architecture, designed for the C to D segments, is said to be highly scalable and flexible, and to be compatible with both HEVs and BEVs. A hybrid model will be released first, with a BEV model scheduled to be introduced within the year.
The Japanese model introduced this time is a 48V mild hybrid that combines a 1.2-liter inline 3-cylinder turbo engine that produces a maximum output of 136 PS/5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 230 Nm/1750 rpm with a 6-speed DCT that also incorporates a motor that produces 16 kW and 51 Nm. The engine can be stopped for up to 50% of the time when driving in urban areas, and EV driving is possible at low speeds. Fuel economy is said to be 19.4 km/L in WLTC mode.
The new 3008 for Japan will be available in two grades: Allure and GT. The Allure is the base grade that combines sophisticated style with practical equipment, and is more than enough for everyday use. On the other hand, the GT is a premium model that adds matrix LED headlights and a GT-specific dashboard, and is aimed at customers who value high-quality and advanced driving. Both grades are equipped with a 48V hybrid system.
The exterior design is a fastback x SUV

The exterior of the new 3008 features a fastback design that combines the elegance of a coupe with the strength of an SUV. It features unique styling that expresses the brand’s worldview, such as a newly designed frameless grille and LED lamps that resemble three “lion’s claw marks.” Another highlight is the 19-inch alloy wheel “YARI,” which is said to have been designed with the image of the peak of Japan’s famous mountain, Mt. Yari, and is exclusive to the hybrid model. Another highlight is the combination of aerodynamic performance and aesthetic beauty.
The biggest topic of the new 3008’s interior is the newly designed “Panoramic i Cockpit.” The large 21-inch curved display, which comes standard on all grades, is said to combine visibility with operability. The “i Toggle” that can set 10 shortcuts has also been installed, and the operation system has also been greatly improved. Furthermore, the GT Alcantara package features sporty and comfortable seats made of Alcantara. Furthermore, it is equipped with an adaptive bolster function, a first for Peugeot, which allows the driver to adjust the sense of support according to the driving situation.
Despite its sporty appearance, the luggage space is 520L, which can be expanded to a maximum of 1480L by folding down the rear seats, making it possible to meet a wide range of needs from everyday use to leisure.
A fully electric SUV will follow.

The new 3008, which has emerged as the new “face” of Peugeot, combines electrification, advanced technology, and French aesthetics. With its latest platform, futuristic interior, and packaging that combines design and practicality, it could become a leader in the C-segment SUV market.
In addition to the 48V hybrid model, the new 3008 also includes the 100% electric “E-3008,” scheduled for release in Japan later this year. The E-3008 is a BEV-designed model that demonstrates the true value of the STLA medium platform, pursuing the values unique to fully electric vehicles, such as quietness and zero-emission performance, as well as optimized driving range and interior space. The European specification boasts a motor output of 157kW and maximum torque of 343Nm, and the 87kWh battery model boasts a class-leading driving range of up to 700km (WLTP). Details will be announced in the future, but this too is expected to be a highly competitive vehicle in the fully electric SUV market.
