Ferrari won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024, but missed out on the title. The team will be aiming to reclaim the title in the new season with the same lineup as last year.

Ferrari AF Corse, which will compete as a works team in the WEC, will have an unchanged driver line-up for the 2025 season, with Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Niklas Nielsen at the wheel of the No. 50 car, and Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi at the wheel of the No. 51 car.

Ferrari finished third in the Manufacturers’ World Championship in 2024 and second in 2023. Their goal for the 2025 season is to win both the Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ World Championships. If they win the WEC title, they will bring the Endurance World Championship back to Maranello for the first time since the 1972 Manufacturers’ World Championship.

Antonio Fuoco, who drove the No. 50 car and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024, spoke of his goals for the season:

“I gained a lot of experience in 2024. I believe I was able to improve my car control and management, fine-tune the set-up of the 499P and improve its overall performance. My ambition for the new season is to fight for the title in both championships and to win Le Mans again.”

Car No. 51 showed impressive speed in the final race of last season, the Bahrain 8 Hours. Alessandro Pier Guidi revealed that various work has been done on the car during the off-season.

“We carried out several track tests over the winter and did as much simulator work as possible to optimise every aspect of the 499P. The 2025 calendar is the same as 2024, so we should be able to remain competitive on tracks where we have already proven ourselves fast, and improve on tracks where we have had problems.”

“We expect to be competitive this season and fight for the championship. To achieve our goal of winning the WEC title, we need to improve our performance and score points in every race.”

Livery paying homage to the 312PB

Ferrari has unveiled the livery of the 499P hypercar that will compete in the 2025 WEC season.

The car’s livery is based on red and yellow, as in previous years, and pays homage to the Ferrari 312PB, with matte red accents added to highlight the car’s similarities with the F1 team.

The 499P, which will compete in the 2025 WEC season, will retain continuity with previous models, but will also feature striking design elements that make it instantly recognizable as a 2025 model. The main colours are Ferrari and the 499P’s signature red, combined with a vibrant Giallo Modena yellow.

This time, the car pays homage to Ferrari’s history with a livery that pays tribute to the 312PB sports prototype racing car that competed in the 1970s. The livery blends a dark red, a reinterpretation of the colors seen on Ferrari racing cars of the past decades, including the 312PB, with Giallo Modena, which accentuates the body lines. Matte accents have also been added to match the Scuderia Ferrari HP F1 cars.

Furthermore, the livery itself has been optimized to improve the visibility of the vehicle in night races. The yellow stripes that have been a feature of the 2023 and later models remain around the cockpit, but unlike last season, the yellow now extends across the entire side pod rather than just the bottom of the side. This design emphasizes the side pod vertically, enhancing its dynamic presence. It also has the effect of making the 499P immediately visible even from above the grandstands.

“Evo” spec introduced from Sao Paulo

Regarding the technical aspects of the machine, the Evo specification introduced from the fourth race of 2024 will be carried over. During the off-season, tests will be conducted on actual circuits and simulations to fine-tune the settings and aerodynamics, and to improve various accuracy.

Regarding the technical aspects of the machine, the Evo specification introduced from the fifth round of the 2024 season at Sambauro will be carried over. At the time of the introduction of the Evo specification, aerodynamic updates were made, such as a redesign of the brake cooling duct system and the addition of a flick below the front headlight.

The team conducted test sessions on the track and in the simulator over the winter, working to optimise the overall technical package. The off-season development programme introduced regulation updates while meticulously fine-tuning the car within the prescribed limits to improve reliability. Ferdinando Cannizzo, head of development for the 499P, had this to say about the 2025 specification:

“Over the winter, we worked hard to improve the car and all of our operational tools to raise the level and optimise the whole team. For the second half of the 2024 season, we are introducing a number of regulation-compliant improvements to the car. Half of these are focused on improving reliability, a quarter on regulation updates, and the rest are optimisation efforts to close the performance gap to our rivals.”

“There will be no joker up-art for the 2025 season, but there are still many areas to improve. Over the winter, we worked hard to expand the boundaries of our set-up, and we are also experimenting with new management strategies to extract more performance from our tyres in all conditions. We will continue to make improvements in all areas to increase precision and provide an even quicker response to driver inputs.”
