The GLC with EQ Technology was developed as the successor to the fully electric mid-size SUV EQC. The top-grade GLC 400 4MATIC with EQ Technology has now been unveiled.

The GLC is Mercedes-Benz’s best-selling model, enjoying high popularity around the world. The newly released GLC with EQ Technology is a separate model from the GLC, which is equipped with an internal combustion engine (ICE), and was developed based on the all-electric MB.EA architecture. Combining new-generation Mercedes design, high efficiency, and driving performance, it will be launched in 2026 as the successor to the EQC.

The new GLC with EQ technology elevates the classic proportions of a Mercedes-Benz mid-size SUV into a modern and attractive form. The dazzling front face, which features the newly designed “chrome grille” for the first time, will be introduced in future models as the new “face” of the Mercedes brand.

The interior features the largest ever Mercedes-Benz MBUX Hyperscreen at 39.1 inches, a first for the brand. Combined with ambient lighting and the Sky Control panoramic roof, it creates an unprecedented interior space.

The top-grade “GLC 400 4MATIC with EQ Technology” is equipped with motors at the front and rear, delivering a maximum output of 489 PS (360 kW). The maximum cruising range is 713 km (WLTP). The newly developed “One-Box braking system” seamlessly switches between regenerative braking and friction braking, enabling stable braking.

The cockpit is equipped with a 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, the largest ever in a Mercedes-Benz car.

The 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, positioned at the front edge of the instrument panel as if floating, creates an immersive spatial experience with digital elegance. High resolution and matrix backlight technology deliver unprecedented clarity.

The MBUX Hyperscreen, which integrates the driving experience with the spatial experience, is available in up to 11 different background motif styles. The meters, controls, and ambient lighting are also linked to the selected style. The MB.OS control unit system seamlessly blends the physical and digital worlds, creating a unique interior space.

The wheelbase has been extended by 84mm compared to the ICE (internal combustion engine) model, giving passengers more space and comfort. Front seat passengers have 13mm more legroom and 46mm more headroom, while rear seat passengers have 47mm more legroom and 17mm more headroom.

Switchable panoramic roof

In addition to the standard “panoramic roof,” the rear seats are available with the “Sky Control Panoramic Roof,” which allows the amount of light entering to be adjusted for each of nine zones.

The spacious rear seat comes standard with a panoramic roof. The optional Sky Control panoramic roof uses thermally insulated laminated safety glass. It uses large-area glass that can be switched from transparent to opaque, allowing the amount of light entering each of nine zones to be adjusted. At night, the optional ambient lighting projects 162 stars onto the glass surface, creating a magical experience.

The materials used for the seats and trim have also been carefully selected to provide the highest level of tactility and elegance. The new car also offers a “Vegan Package” option, a sustainable option that does not use animal-derived materials. This package is the world’s first to be certified by The Vegan Society.

The rear luggage space is 570L, which can be expanded to a maximum of 1740L by folding down the second row seats. There is also a front trunk (frunk) with a convenient capacity of 128L.

A charging system with greatly improved convenience

The 94kWh lithium-ion battery installed in the floor achieves a maximum range of over 700km, and the 800V system significantly reduces charging time.

The highlight of the fully electric architecture, “MB.EA,” is its 800V system. It achieves a maximum range of 713km (WLTP) and significantly reduces charging times. By combining this with “MB.CHARGE,” one of the world’s largest charging networks, a seamless and fast charging experience is provided.

The Mercedes-Benz Navigation with Electric Intelligence in the GLC with EQ Technology interactively analyzes the terrain, route configuration, weather information, and more to automatically plan the fastest and most comfortable route, including stops at compatible charging stations. Furthermore, dedicated charging points can be reserved in advance via the MB.CHARGE public app.

The 94 kWh lithium-ion battery, based on an innovative, highly integrated modular architecture, is mounted in the floor of the vehicle. The GLC with EQ Technology can charge for up to 303 km of range in just 10 minutes. Furthermore, by equipping the GLC with a DC converter tailored to the region, it can also be used at 400 V fast charging stations.

The GLC with EQ technology also supports connection to the German power grid. By connecting to a bidirectional DC charging station, solar power can be stored in the vehicle and supplied to the home (V2H) or the power grid (V2G).

Comparing the cost performance of the popular bargain grade “Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d Core” and “Audi Q5 TDI”

The new entry-level grade “220d 4MATIC Core” was added to the “Mercedes-Benz GLC” in March 2025. This grade has a significantly lower price thanks to its carefully selected equipment. Let’s compare it with the diesel version of the “Audi Q5,” another German premium SUV.
