Mercedes-AMG High-Performance SUV
Developed as a fully electric SUV that embodies AMG

Mercedes-AMG CEO Michael Siebe has revealed that although the model is fully electric, it is being developed as a performance model with an “AMG-like” character.
Mercedes-AMG is developing its first full-size SUV in-house in its 57-year history. The off-roader, born in Affalterbach (AMG’s headquarters factory), is based on AMG’s proprietary fully electric platform, the AMG.EA. The development vehicle is scheduled to undergo its first tests this winter.
More than 25 years ago, AMG pioneered a new segment with the launch of the ML 55 AMG. High-performance SUVs have been a cornerstone of the AMG lineup for many years. This luxury high-performance SUV quickly captured the hearts of customers around the world, and many manufacturers have since introduced vehicles in this segment.
In the latest project currently under development, Mercedes-AMG has designed the entire vehicle architecture for the first time. This full-size SUV will be the second model based on the full-electric platform “AMG.EA” (the first model is currently being tested). Mercedes-AMG CEO Michael Siebe gave the following explanation about the full-size electric SUV currently under development:
“SUVs have been one of the most popular model series for many years. The ‘Born in Affalterbach’ SUV currently under development is one of our responses to this trend. We will soon be offering our customers an attractive, high-performance off-roader based on the AMG.EA platform.”
“Our new high-performance architecture, AMG.EA, follows a clear philosophy: AMG first, EV second. This means that the vehicle is not only a great EV, but also embodies the core qualities of AMG: emotion and performance.”
