The show showcased three concept cars that are intended for production, including the “Moparized Ram 1500 RHO,” which is lavishly equipped with the latest Mopar accessories.

The SEMA Show attracts attention from across the U.S. This time, Mopar brought three fascinating concept cars to the show: the 1967 Plymouth GTX Electromod Concept, a restomod equipped with the Mopar e-Crate fully electric powertrain; the Ram 2500 Power Wagon Concept, a car that can be driven both on the road and on the trail; and the Moparized Ram 1500 RHO, which features newly designed exterior graphics and Mopar accessories.

In addition to the three concept cars, the Mopar booth will also feature a variety of performance parts and the debut of the Dodge E-Bike, an electric motorcycle inspired by Dodge’s heritage. Also on display are a number of customized vehicles created by Mark Warman, a well-known Mopar enthusiast. Mike Koval Jr., Mopar’s North American division president, gave the following explanation about the exhibits at the 2024 SEMA Show:

“Mopar’s three new concept vehicles showcase different aspects of performance. Whether it’s a zero-emission muscle car concept with an all-electric powertrain or a high-performance off-road pickup, Mopar has its sights set on production.”

Modernly updated exterior

The exterior of the 1967 Plymouth GTX Electromod Concept pays homage to muscle cars from the 1960s and 1970s, while being updated to modernize for electrification.

The 1967 Plymouth GTX Electromod Concept anticipates the future sale of a fully electric powertrain kit for historic models. It will be equipped with the Mopar e-Crate, an EV conversion kit that can convert not only historic cars but also current models with internal combustion engines into EVs.

The exterior features a vibrant Frostbite Blue body color and a low center of gravity typical of muscle cars. Mopar’s design team enlarged the rear wheel arches to create an aggressive yet modern form. In keeping with the spirit of a genuine restomod, the body-colored bumpers were trimmed to fit neatly into the fender lines.

In honor of the original Plymouth GTX, the car features a custom carbon fiber hood with dual air extractors and satin black stripes. The grille, window trim, side mirrors, and tail panel are all finished in satin black to match the body color and carbon fiber hood.

Aerodynamically, the car is fitted with a carbon fibre front splitter and low-profile rear spoiler, while the flip-top fuel cap popular in the 1960s and 70s has been updated to function as a charging port door.

Full electric kit for muscle cars

The 1967 Plymouth GT Electromod Concept features a fully electric powertrain.

The Mopar e-Crate, an EV conversion kit developed by Mopar, is compatible with not only the Plymouth GTX but also E-body and B-body muscle cars. The batteries are installed in separate compartments, one in the hood and the other in the trunk.

Under the carbon fiber hood is an expandable 400V, 250kW full electric drive module (EDM). All mounts are designed for manufacturability, with braces and brackets made from 6061 aluminum alloy and designed to be cut with a water jet. Maximum output is 339 PS and a range of 250 miles (approximately 402 km).

The Integrated Dual Charging Module (IDCM) is located on top of the fully electric drive module and is fitted with a custom-style cover that pays homage to the supercharger installed on the Hellcat, the world’s fastest and most powerful muscle car. This EDM mounting kit is compatible with E-body and B-body vehicles.

The four battery packs contain a total of 384 lithium-ion battery cells. Three of the four are housed in cartridge-style aluminum frames fixed in the trunk, designed to be easily removed for service or replacement. The fourth battery pack is mounted behind the front low-profile radiator set and grille to improve weight distribution and enhance the appearance of the engine bay. The overall battery system has a capacity of 73kW, and the total battery weight is kept to approximately 100kg.

In addition to the electric powertrain, the Mopar e-Crate also includes custom-designed carbon fiber fender aprons, a firewall, and a radiator plenum closeout. Custom-designed access panels allow for easy inspection and maintenance of the auxiliary battery and coolant pump.

A modernized cockpit that pays homage to the original

The cockpit features a driver interface system specially designed for the electrified vehicle, along with a new leather-wrapped, three-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel.

The interior features a specially designed driver interface system, featuring EV gauges such as an analogue speedometer that can display speeds up to 160 mph, battery charge level, instantaneous drive motor current level, and battery and motor coolant temperatures, all housed in a specially designed cluster bezel.

The original three-spoke round steering wheel has been replaced with a leather-wrapped three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel in a Vintage Bronze finish, and the horn pad features a floating bronze “Omega M” to celebrate the original floating Plymouth steering hub.

Exterior-color-matched blue door panels feature vintage bronze accents and manual window cranks, while Mopar stainless steel pedal covers add bold contrast and provide excellent driver grip.

The original low-back seats were replaced with supportive Jeep Wrangler front seats that fold forward for easy access to the rear seats. The front and rear seats are upholstered in premium indigo blue leather with gunmetal suede inner bolsters and finished with bright orange accent stitching.
