Lotus exhibits special edition “Emirah Clark Edition” and formula car at Tokyo Auto Salon 2026

A tribute to a racing legend

Lotus unveiled two internal combustion engine vehicles at the annual New Year’s custom car festival, “Tokyo Auto Salon 2026,” held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The special edition “Emira Clark Edition,” based on the sports car “Emira,” Lotus’ last internal combustion engine vehicle, embodied the booth concept, “ARE YOU A DRIVER OR WHAT? STOP WATCHING, START DRIVING.” The car’s name pays homage to legendary driver Jim Clark.

In 1965, Clark won the F1 World Championship with Team Lotus and also won the Indianapolis 500. To this day, no other driver has ever won both the F1 and Indy 500 in the same year. The spirit of Clark and Team Lotus is said to be carried on through the “Emmira Clark Edition.” This special edition car, which has been specially finished by a master painter and is packed with Lotus DNA, will be limited to 60 units worldwide.

Next to the Emira Clark Edition was the 1968 Lotus 41, a classic formula car. The booth with two internal combustion engines side by side may suggest a change in Lotus’ direction after its initial shift to fully electric cars. Conservative Lotus fans should keep a close eye on this development.
