Ahead of the upcoming release of the new racing car, the Temerario GT3, the Huracán GT3 Evo II took overall victory in the 101-year-old Spa 24 Hours race.

The #63 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo II, entered by GRT Grasser Racing, won the overall victory at the Crowdstrike Spa 24 Hours race held at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

For Lamborghini, this is an endurance race victory following three consecutive class victories at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2018, 2019, and 2020, and victories at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2018 and 2019. The successor model to the Huracán GT3, the Temerario GT3, is scheduled to be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 11th, and this is the Huracán GT3’s first major race victory at the end of its career.

Maurizio Reschitta, head of Lamborghini’s motorsport division, praised the team:

“I’m really happy to have won the Spa 24 Hours in my first year with Lamborghini. I’d like to once again thank all three drivers and the team for this incredible achievement. I’d also like to thank the members of Lamborghini Squadra Corse for their impeccable work, which has led us to this incredible place.”

With less than two hours remaining, he took the lead

The Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo II continues to race in the grueling 24-hour race.

The #63 Huracán GT3 Evo II completed its stint smoothly without any major issues, and with the leading Porsche suffering a puncture, it took the lead with less than two hours remaining.

South African driver Jordan Pepper qualified for the #63 GRT Grasser Racing car, which advanced to the Superpole session on Friday afternoon, recording the fifth fastest time. However, due to a time infringement upon exiting the pit lane, the team was penalized seven places on the grid for the final race, meaning they would start from 12th place.

In the final race, starting driver Mirko Bortolotti moved up to 10th place and handed the baton to Pepper. Pepper, followed by Luca Engstler, completed double stints, and the No. 63 car steadily improved its position.

With just over four hours remaining, the Porsche 911 GT3R No. 96 was in the lead. Pepper was able to pass lapped cars and gradually close the gap of over 17 seconds, eventually going nose-to-tail. Then, when the No. 96 Porsche suffered a puncture, he took the lead with one hour and 48 minutes remaining.

Bortolotti, who was assigned to the final stint, overcame the intense heat to finish more than eight seconds ahead of second place, bringing home Lamborghini’s first victory at the Spa 24 Hours. Pepper, who had fought through a tough race, expressed his joy:

“I am proud to have won the Spa 24 Hours. I have been a factory driver for Lamborghini for three years and they have become like family to me. I am truly moved by the effort that has gone into this program and the fierce battles with our rivals. I saw this race as a new challenge in my life. As a team we have overcome many hardships, but this has only made us stronger.”
