AUDI A5 Sportback
Subtly different rear

Looking at the rear, you can see subtle differences between the sedan and the Avant.
The prototype, believed to be an Audi A5 Sportback, looks similar to the A5 sedan, but there are some obvious differences. The A5 sedan’s rear license plate is mounted directly below the LED light strip, whereas this prototype’s is mounted on the rear bumper. Additionally, the connection between the rear window and tailgate appears to be curved on this test vehicle, while the sedan’s is straight.
A sleek and dynamic side view

The side view looks like a coupe-body “Sportback” similar to the “A7”.
The roofline appears to have been slightly reworked, giving the car a distinct identity. Subtle changes to the rear spoiler make it more prominent, giving it a fastback silhouette similar to the A7 Sportback.
The greenhouse behind the C-pillar also appears to have been redesigned, giving the car a more dynamic look from the side. At the front, the car appears to have a slightly larger grille than the standard A5.
Is this a model exclusive to the Chinese market?

Is this a model exclusive to the Chinese market following the A5L that was recently announced in Guangzhou?
The model will share the same “Premium Platform Combustion” (PPC) architecture as the rest of the A5 family, and will likely feature a non-electric 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine under the hood.
The camouflage on this prototype is the same type that Audi has used mainly on models destined for China. Given that the differences with the new A5 sedan are very minor, it’s possible that this is a model exclusive to the Chinese market. It could be a new variant with slight modifications for the more profitable Chinese market.
