MID (Maruka Intelligent Design) was born as an original brand developed by Maruka Service, which has been supporting the lives of Japanese people by supplying aftermarket wheels for over 40 years. Its philosophy is to support people’s lives by prioritizing safety and security. Last year, MID revamped its lineup, including the series name, to enhance its premium appeal while embarking on a strategy of striving for ultimate excellence in all areas. The branding alone is a strong indicator of momentum, with the aggressive development of video commercials and the company supplying one-make cars to the increasingly popular Formula Drift Japan 2 (FDJ2) series.
Among them, the highest-end flagship series is the MID Exclusive. With a product lineup focused mainly on high-end cars, it is known for providing safety and peace of mind to your beloved car, as well as a comfortable ride including quietness, while adding a touch of sexiness to your feet.
Among these MID exclusives, the one that has appeared is the “ultimate of the ultimate,” the “ELEMENT SIKTH.” The product name refers to the “sixth element,” or carbon. MID believes that “carbon is lighter than aluminum and stronger than steel. It is the ideal material for wheels,” and has therefore decided to use carbon material for the rims. This is a method used by some ultra-high-end wheel brands, but it has been established in Japan.

While the rim is made of carbon, the disc is a two-piece wheel shaped using cutting forging, a cutting technique of the highest order. Three disc designs have been released so far, all of which exude the feeling of cutting forging, with complex shapes carefully designed down to the smallest detail thanks to extensive use of multi-axis machining. It seems they have pursued lightweight performance while maintaining strength and rigidity. This approach is evident just by looking at the design. Furthermore, the discs are available in nearly 30 colors, and the carbon rims are not standardized, with five types available. There are also a variety of sizes available, ranging from 20 to 23 inches and 8.5 to 12.0J, with specifications specified in 0.5J increments. Of course, offsets can also be ordered, making this a wheel that can be fully customized in size and specifications.
