First, let’s take a look at the predecessor, the W205. The C450 AMG 4MATIC, which was released in July 2015, is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine. With a maximum output of 270 kW (367 PS) and a maximum torque of 520 Nm, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
The drivetrain is the “AMG 4MATIC” which is being used for the first time in the C-Class, and the suspension is the “AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension.” It also features the “AMG parameter steering” with a quick ratio of 14.2 and the low-back pressure “AMG sports exhaust system.”

The first generation “C 43 4MATIC” was released after undergoing a partial improvement in August 2016. The transmission was changed to a 9-speed automatic “9G-TRONIC”. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h was improved by 0.1 seconds, and the front/rear torque distribution was changed to 31:69, further favoring the rear.
The 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, which was upgraded to a later model in July 2018 with a larger turbo, has increased its maximum output by 23 PS (17 kW) to 287 kW (390 PS). Maximum torque of 520 Nm remains unchanged.
Downsizing from the 3.0-liter V6
The current model C 43 was released in October 2022.
The current model (W206), released in October 2022, has been downsized to a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder turbo, but still maintains a maximum output of 300kW (408PS) and maximum torque of 500Nm, achieving an 18PS increase in maximum output.
In terms of technology, the highlight is the world’s first mass-produced vehicle to feature an “electric exhaust gas turbo,” which not only improves response across the entire range but also maintains boost pressure even when the accelerator is released or braking.
It also incorporates a 48V mild hybrid system using a BSG (belt-driven starter generator), a boost function that increases output by 10kW (16PS) for short periods of time, and improved efficiency through coasting and regenerative braking.

The transmission is the 9-speed automatic “AMG Speedshift MCT” that was previously only available on the C 63, and is equipped with a blipping function, allowing for gear changes befitting a sports model.
The drivetrain is the AMG 4MATIC with a 31:69 front/rear torque split, and the standardization of rear-axle steering is also a highlight. At speeds below 100km/h, the steering is in the opposite direction to improve maneuverability, and at speeds above 100km/h, the steering is in the same direction to improve handling stability.
Other features include “Intelligent Drive” such as “Active Steering Assist” using a 360-degree camera system, the interactive infotainment system “MBUX,” and “AR Navigation” using augmented reality.
The current model has a mileage of less than 30,000 km and can be purchased for less than 8 million yen.

When the previous C450 AMG 4MATIC was released, its base price was priced at 8.63 million yen, but with the minor change C43 in July 2018, the price jumped to 9.4 million yen, and by the end of the model year it had reached 9.95 million yen. However, the current model has surpassed the 100 million yen mark at 11.16 million yen. The price of imported cars is rising across the board due to exchange rate fluctuations.
As of August 2025, there are almost no used W205 C450 AMG 4MATICs in circulation, with only around 80 models remaining after the car was renamed the C 43 4MATIC. Generally, the average price tends to decrease as the generation and model year get older, and the W205 C 43 4MATIC is no exception. While there are of course individual differences such as mileage, there are some for under 3 million yen, and there are also attractive examples of later models with around 30,000 km on the clock for 4 million yen.
The current W206 model is already registered and registered, and there are many so-called unused cars. Depending on the mileage, current condition, equipment, etc., you may be able to find one for 1.5 million to 3 million yen less than the new car price.
If price is your primary concern, you should choose the previous model. However, as mentioned above, the current model has been downsized while increasing maximum output and the transmission has also been improved. There is a big difference in driving performance. The current model is also superior in terms of advanced safety equipment, MBUX, AR navigation, and other features. In some cases, the current model can be purchased for less than 8 million yen with around 30,000 km on the clock, so in terms of value for money, the current model can be considered the better buy.
