Porsche Macan Japan Launch Event

A calligraphy performance was held by Yuna Okanishi, a calligrapher and artist who was also the owner of the previous Macan.
The new Macan, Porsche’s second BEV model after the Taycan, has finally been unveiled in Japan. The launch took place at Zojoji Temple in Shiba Park, Tokyo. The ancient temple is the head temple of the Jodo sect of Buddhism and the family temple of the Tokugawa clan, towering over a corner of the city.
Upon arriving at the venue, there was another surprise: Tokyo Tower was lit up in the Macan’s communication color, “Provence.” The beautiful combination of the elegant new Macan, Zojoji Temple, and Tokyo Tower in Provence colors made it hard not to feel the strong commitment that Porsche has placed in the new Macan.

Let’s briefly review the new Macan. The new Macan will use the PPE platform, a dedicated BEV platform for medium- to large-sized vehicles jointly developed by Porsche and Audi. The Macan 4 Electric and Macan Turbo Electric, both of which are already on sale, are equipped with two motors on the front and rear axles and feature four-wheel drive.
The Macan 4 Electric boasts an output of 408 PS/650 Nm, while the Macan Turbo Electric boasts 639 PS/1130 Nm (both with launch control).
The adoption of the PPE, which allows for a high degree of freedom in layout, has resulted in the new Macan’s Cd value of just 0.25, an exceptional figure for an SUV. Incidentally, the Macan 4 Electric has a maximum range of 613 km, while the Macan Turbo Electric has a maximum range of 591 km.
Let’s review the appeal of the new Macan

Since there is no drive shaft, a large storage box is provided in the center console. [5] The seats combine comfort and support. It looks like it will be comfortable even for long-distance travel.
On the day of the launch event, Jörg Kellner, Head of the Macan Product Line, known internally as “Mr. Macan,” also came to Japan and gave a presentation. “The appeal of the new Macan lies in its uniquely elegant design and driving performance that embodies Porsche DNA. I would love for as many people as possible to experience the driving experience of the new Macan,” Kellner said, expressing his enthusiasm.
At the event, calligrapher and artist Yuna Okanishi, who is also the owner of the previous Macan, performed a dynamic performance in which she painted the bright gold kanji character for “miyabi” (elegant character) on a canvas overlaid with the word “electric.”
The approximately 100 new Macan owners who were invited from all over Japan for this launch seemed captivated by Okanishi’s brilliant performance and the elegant atmosphere of Zojoji Temple. It was surely a special night for the owners.
