Hyundai, which won the long-awaited WRC (World Rally Championship) drivers’ title last year, unveiled two collaboration models of its IONIQ 5 N, a high-performance EV, at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025.
First up is the Ioniq 5 NX MINI GT RS-01T, a collaboration between Hyundai’s high-performance brand N and MINI GT, a miniature car manufacturer that produces 1/64 scale models. Developed based on motorsports technology such as the Ioniq 5 N’s one-make races, the car is said to have specifications that pursue even higher performance.
Another car unveiled was the “Ioniq 5 N DK Edition,” a collaboration with Autobacs Seven that features exclusive original performance parts overseen by racing driver Keiichi Tsuchiya. The car is equipped with 15mm lowering springs, six-piston monoblock brakes, 21-inch lightweight forged wheels, and a carbon fiber front spoiler, side skirts, rear wing, and rear diffuser. Tsuchiya spent over a year working with Hyundai’s experimental department to perfect the suspension, brakes, and aerodynamics.
Hyundai’s smallest BEV

Insta
At this year’s Auto Salon 2025, Hyundai unveiled its new compact EV, the Instar, for the first time in Japan. The Instar, which made its world debut at the Busan Mobility Show in South Korea in June last year, is Hyundai’s smallest BEV, and is already on sale in South Korea and Europe. Featuring a spacious interior and long driving range, the company touts it as a model that can accommodate a variety of lifestyles. It is scheduled to be released in Japan this spring.
In addition to the commercially available model, a customized model inspired by rally racing, the Instar Cross Tarmac Concept, was also on display.
