Porsche aims to repeat its victory in 2024

Porsche won the 2024 Daytona 24 Hours and carried that momentum into the WEC. This season, in addition to two factory cars, they will also be competing in the opening round of the IMSA season with two privateer cars.
The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, held in North America, will kick off in style this year with the 63rd Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, which will be held at Daytona International Speedway in Florida on January 25th and 26th.
Porsche, which has recorded 19 overall victories to date, will be fielding four Porsche 963s in the GTP class: two from Porsche Penske Motorsports, one from Proton Competition, and one from JDC-Miller Motorsports. 2023-24 Formula E champion Pascal Wehrlein will be making his Daytona debut with JDC-Miller Motorsports.
Porsche teams conducted intensive preparations for the race at the “Roar Before the 24” test session held last weekend (January 17-19). Over the three-day test, the four Porsche 963s completed 636 laps, and the four GT category 911 GT3 Rs also accumulated a combined mileage of more than 4,000 km.
Porsche’s Vice President of Motorsport, Thomas Rodenbach, expressed his enthusiasm for winning the Daytona 24 Hours for the second consecutive year:
“Our victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona was a stepping stone to a great success for Porsche last season. 2025 will be even tougher, but our goal remains the same: we are aiming to win again and are ready for a fierce battle in the GTP and GTD classes.”
Demonstrating clear progress in test sessions

The factory team, Porsche Penske Motorsports, showed good pace in the test sessions and, with a changed driver lineup from last season, will be aiming for a consecutive victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona.
The factory team, Porsche Penske Motorsports, will have Matt Campbell, Kevin Estre and Mathieu Jaminet driving car No. 6, and Felipe Nasr, Nick Tandy and Laurens Vanthoor driving car No. 7. The team has made various minor updates to the 963 since the end of the 2024 season.
LMDh Factory Motorsport Director Urs Krator commented on the team’s quest to win the series for the second time in a row:
“Following the test in November 2024, we were able to demonstrate our progress in the official test session at Daytona. We can say that we are fully prepared for the first race week of the season. Since its debut two years ago, the Porsche 963 has established itself as the most successful racing car in its class. Our victory at Daytona in 2024 proved that our team can demonstrate excellent capabilities even under the special conditions of a 24-hour race.”
