The Supervisory Board of Porsche AG has approved the appointment of Michael Reiters as CEO, replacing Oliver Blume, who has led Porsche as CEO through the past decade, a period marked by many social changes.

Leiters will serve as CEO of McLaren Automotive from July 2022 to April 2025, having previously served as CTO of Ferrari for over eight years. Leiters also has a deep connection with Porsche, having worked there for over 13 years prior to joining Ferrari, where he was responsible for the development of the Macan and Cayenne.

Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG, explained the personnel changes as follows:

“As CEO of Porsche AG, Oliver Blume has taken on great responsibility and led the company to success in difficult times. The Supervisory Board of Porsche AG would like to once again thank Oliver Blume for his strong commitment and look forward to a continued close and trusting collaboration as CEO of the Volkswagen Group.”

“Mr. Reiters has decades of experience in the automotive industry. His leadership skills and deep expertise make him ideally suited to lead Porsche to success.”

Under CEO Blume, Porsche has expanded its business scale and has responded flexibly to rapid market changes.

As CEO of Porsche AG, Oliver Blume is recognized for the best-ever financial year, the public listing of Porsche AG, the expansion of international markets, historic motorsport success, and for the long-term strategic management transition at Porsche.

Blume, who will focus on his role as CEO of the Volkswagen Group from January 2026 onwards, commented:

“After 10 years of responsibility at Porsche AG, I have decided to hand over my responsibilities at Porsche to my successor at the end of 2025 in order to further the interests of the Volkswagen Group. It has been a great experience for me to have the honour of developing this great company together with the best team.”

“Deep changes in Porsche’s two largest markets, the United States and China, have placed new demands on our business model. In response, we are structurally restructuring the company and changing our product strategy. Full powertrain flexibility and an improved cost structure position Porsche strongly for the future.”

“We are pleased that Leiters, a seasoned professional in the sports car business, will take on this role. We have every confidence in him and the new management team and wish them every success.”

McLaren, one of the leading super sports car brands, has a new leader. While poaching from rivals is common in this industry, this direct poaching from a direct rival has shocked the world.
