Through a partnership between Ford Performance Motorsports and the Haupt Racing Team, the Mustang GT3 will compete in the world’s four major 24-hour races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.

The Ford Mustang GT3 has been competing in circuits around the world, including Europe and North America, since 2024, achieving numerous victories and podium finishes. Now, Ford Performance Motorsports has announced a partnership with Germany’s Haupt Racing Team (HRT), a team with a history of winning various championships, to enter the Mustang GT3 in Europe’s most exciting racing series.

The HRT Ford Performance Mustang GT3 is entered in Europe’s top GT3 series, the German Touring Car Masters (DTM), the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS), and the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Sprint, including the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and the 24 Hours of Spa.

Mark Rushbrook, Global Director, Ford Performance Motorsports, commented on the partnership with the Haupt Racing Team:

“Haupt Racing Team’s proven success in DTM and other series will be a great boost for the Mustang GT3, and we’re thrilled they’ll be competing in the Mustang GT3 at iconic European circuits, including the legendary Nürburgring 24 Hours.”

“This agreement also brings the Mustang GT3 to the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, joining the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Daytona and 24 Hours of Spa. This partnership strengthens Ford’s position in global GT3 racing and ensures the continued growth of the Mustang racing program.”

Haupt Racing was founded in 2020

Founded in 2020, Haupt Racing Team has competed in the German Touring Car Championship with a Mercedes-AMG GT3. Although it is a young team, it can be said to be a leading team that has already achieved results in various races.

The Mustang GT3 customer program, which began in 2024, is off to a promising start, with podium finishes in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

To further expand its Mustang GT3 program, Ford Performance Motorsports has entered into a partnership with Haupt Racing Team (HRT), further expanding Ford’s customer program and enabling the Mustang GT3 to compete in a number of European series.

The highlight of the collaboration with HRT will be the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in June 2025. Following its participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Spa, and 24 Hours of Daytona, the Mustang GT3 will also be aiming to finish and place highly in the top ranks at the grueling Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Founded in 2020 by racing driver Hubert Haupt, HRT is a leading privateer team with experience winning the 2021 DTM Drivers’ Championship and the 2023 GT World Challenge Europe title. The Mustang GT3 will return to DTM with the accomplished HRT team for the first time since the Sierra RS500 Cosworth. HRT Managing Director Ulrich Fritz expressed his delight at the collaboration with Ford.

“We have continuously developed our team over the past few years, building a high level of expertise in race car development and competition. I am extremely excited about this new project with Ford. It is a great honour that Ford has chosen HRT to spearhead their European operations.”

“Ford is a truly strong automaker with a rich motorsports heritage and a strong motivation. The Ford Mustang GT3 is a latest-generation race car, and I’m confident that together with Ford we can reach the next level. We’ll be fully prepared for next season and will continue to work hard to deliver the results we’re looking forward to.”
