The Cadillac F1 Team is the first new team to enter F1 since Haas in 2016, and has already signed an agreement with F1 to become the 11th team to do so. While GM plans to introduce its own power units in the future, initially the team will be supplied with a 1.6-liter V6 turbo-based power unit and gearbox from Ferrari.

Scuderia Ferrari HP team principal Frederic Vasseur commented on the supply of power units to Cadillac:

“It is fantastic news that Cadillac, one of the most respected teams in the automotive industry, has announced its participation in F1 at a time when F1 is growing in popularity in the United States. We are pleased to be providing our power units and gearboxes to the team as a technical partner. From Ferrari’s technical development perspective, this will be of immeasurable benefit to us as it means that two customer teams (Haas and Cadillac) will continue to participate in the championship.”

Cadillac F1 team principal Graeme Lordon is not hiding his delight at the decision to supply power units from Ferrari.

“We are excited to partner with Ferrari as the power unit and gearbox supplier for the Cadillac F1 Team, uniting two exceptional legacies. Selecting the right power unit partner is crucial to our Formula 1 involvement, and we believe in Ferrari’s passion for motorsport and their outstanding development capabilities.”
