1998 RUF CTR 2 Sport
The popular 993-based “ROOF CTR 2”

Among the “Rufu CTR 2” models that were released in 1995, the “CTR 2 Sport” model, which offers even better performance, will be up for auction.
The 1995 Ruf CTR II was the second generation of Ruf’s cult-class ultra-high-performance model. It was the first road-legal Ruf sold in the United States and is extremely popular. The Ruf CTR II is based on the 993-generation Porsche 911 and is equipped with a 3.6-liter flat-six air-cooled engine inspired by the Porsche 962 Group C racing car. Twin turbochargers produce a maximum output of 588 PS and a maximum torque of 685 Nm.
The car transmitted its immense power and torque to the road via a 6-speed manual transmission with improved RUF technology, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and achieving a top speed of 217 mph (350 km/h), making it the fastest mass-produced car in the world at the time.
In addition to its luxurious interior, the car featured Roof’s proprietary integrated roll cage and bi-function rear wing. It also featured cutting-edge technology at the time, such as carbon fiber disc brakes, the first to be used on a mass-produced road car. Of the 29 CTR 2s produced, only 14 were lighter, wider-body, and more powerful CTR 2 Sport models, and one of these will be auctioned at the Monterey Jet Center auction.
The 1998 Ruf CTR 2 Sport (chassis number: W09BC0360WPR06007) being auctioned this time was ordered new by Frank Bedor, patriarch of the famously wealthy Bedor family.
Full green interior conversion

After being sold by the original Pedor family, the car was refurbished at Ruf headquarters with a full green leather interior.
It was ordered new with a black exterior and black leather interior and remained in the Bedor family’s possession until 2007, when it was sold to Richard Gundeck of New Jersey, USA. After being involved in an accident during transport, the car underwent upgrades and exterior restoration at Ruf’s headquarters in Pfaffenhausen, Germany. The refresh also included the installation of a full green leather interior and Bilstein PSS10 coilover suspension.
The car has only 16,679 miles (26,842 km) on the odometer and will undergo a full service at Ruf North America in July 2025. The expected winning bid is between $3 million (445 million yen) and $3.5 million (approximately 520 million yen). Alexander Weaver, Senior Car Specialist and Vice President of Private Sales at Broad Arrow Auctions, commented on the Ruf auction:
“The Rufu CTR 2 is one of the most sought-after historic super sports cars today. Combining the dynamics of a racing car with the luxury of Gran Turismo, this model not only appeals to today’s young collectors, but is also extremely rare.”
The Monterey Jet Center auction will feature over 170 collector cars, including the 1998 Ruf CTR 2 Sport, a 1987 Ruf Carrera 3.4 “Goldfinger,” and a 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer.
Broad Arrow’s 2024 Monterey Jet Center auction generated $715 million in gross sales and an 85% sell-through rate.
