Crafted in a Mercedes-Benz
Turn your rear seat into an advanced music studio

The newly announced “Crafted in a Mercedes-Benz” can be transformed into a state-of-the-art music studio by connecting a laptop PC to the rear seat.
In 2022, Mercedes-Benz and Universal Music Group, the world’s largest music label, announced a new in-car music experience called “Approved in a Mercedes-Benz.” By incorporating Dolby Atmos mixing technology into Mercedes-Benz vehicles, artists’ music can be perfectly reproduced even while driving.
Dolby Atmos is an audio technology developed by Dolby Laboratories, a California-based pioneer in audio recording and playback technology, that delivers an immersive 3D audio experience via stereo headphones or Dolby Atmos-compatible speakers/receivers.
The collaboration between Mercedes-Benz, Universal Music Group, and Dolby Laboratories has grown over the past few years, and at an event in Los Angeles, Mercedes-Benz unveiled its latest music features, dubbed “Crafted in a Mercedes-Benz.”
With Crafted in a Mercedes-Benz, the rear cabin of the Mercedes-Maybach functions as a Dolby Atmos-compatible sound studio. Artists and producers can instantly mix, monitor, and fine-tune the sound in the Mercedes-Benz’s interior by simply connecting a laptop.
By individually controlling the vehicle’s state-of-the-art speakers, precise acoustic engineering is possible even while driving, and Mercedes-Benz is considering expanding this concept into mass-produced models in the future.
Grammy Award-winning producers and artists also experience

Crafted in a Mercedes-Benz premiered at an exclusive event at Interscope Studios in Los Angeles, featuring special guests Finneas, the Grammy-, Golden Globe-, and Academy Award-winning producer known for his work with Billie Eilish, and Aaron Forbes, who has collaborated with numerous top artists.
The pair have already tried out the technology, with Phineas commenting on its potential:
“In fact, music is often listened to in a car, so producing and editing in that space was a new challenge for me. But it was an extremely satisfying experience. The Mercedes-Benz sound system is very precise, and the setup is intuitive. Being able to produce while keeping different listening environments in mind was an exciting experience for me.”
Markus Schäfer of the Mercedes-Benz Group added:
“For me, music is an essential part of the driving experience, which is why I’m committed to creating the best in-car audio experience in the world. Our collaboration with Universal Music Group and Dolby Laboratories is central to that vision. With the announcement of Crafted in a Mercedes-Benz, we’ve once again set a new standard.”
