AUDI Q4 E-TRON

Cross-country style and coupe style

Both the Volvo EX40 and the Audi Q4 e-tron maintain their brand identity by adopting the same styling as their internal combustion engine vehicles. While retaining the distinctive Volvo and Audi characteristics, the closed grille is a key design element that makes them uniquely EV-like.

Comparing the body sizes of the two cars, the Q4 has a longer, lower form, giving it the impression of a coupe SUV. It can be said that the brand concepts of Volvo’s simplicity and robustness, and Audi’s sportiness are reflected directly.

Body size = Length 4440mm x Width 1875mm x Height 1650mm

Wheelbase = 2700mm

Vehicle weight = 2030kg

Tire size = 235/50R19 (front) / 255/45R19 (rear)

Wheelbase = 2765mm

Vehicle weight = 2120kg

Tire size = 235/55R19 (front) / 255/50R19 (rear)

The Q4 is more powerful

The powertrains are the same, with a lithium-ion battery at the core and an electric motor driving the rear wheels, but the Q4 has higher power and torque figures, with the torque being over 100Nm greater.

All grades of the Q4 are rear-wheel drive with a single motor, but the top-grade EX40 has a dual-motor AWD system. The power and torque of this model are 150 PS/252 Nm in the front and 258 PS/420 Nm in the rear, significantly improving driving performance. If you’re looking for ample power performance from the EX40, this might be the model to consider.

Drive battery type = Lithium-ion battery

Rated output = 120 kW

Maximum output = 238 PS / 4000-5000 rpm

Maximum torque = 418 Nm / 1000 rpm

Transmission = 1-speed fixed

Drive system = RWD

Drive battery type = Lithium-ion battery

Rated output = 89 kW

Maximum output = 286 PS/-rpm

Maximum torque = 545 Nm/-rpm

Transmission = 1-speed fixed

You can choose based on your preference of the manufacturer

The price difference between the two cars is about 300,000 yen, with the Q4 being slightly more expensive. The range is not much different, with the Q4 at 613km and the EX40 at 590km (WLTC mode value). The Q4 was released in 2021, making it newer than the EX40 (the XC40 Recharge at the time), which was released in 2019. The price is thought to reflect the latest technology that has been installed since then, as well as the added premium of the Audi brand.

The price difference is reasonable, so you can choose based on your preference for design and brand.
