CHEVROLET CORVETTE
MR with a large engine is clearly inconvenient

Chevrolet Corvette
The Chevrolet Corvette and Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe are similar in body size, but the difference in their engine positions creates striking styling differences. The front-engine GT Coupe and the mid-engine Corvette both have beautiful silhouettes that serve as examples of their respective drivetrains.
While the Corvette is a pure two-seater, the GT 43 Coupe adopts a 2+2 layout. The rear seat is limited to those under 150cm tall, and 135cm tall when a child seat is installed, but it can accommodate two adults and two children, so it is practical enough.
Furthermore, the GT 43 Coupe’s standard luggage space is 321L, which can be expanded to 675L by folding down the rear seats. Taking advantage of the strengths of its FR layout, the high cargo capacity is also an advantage over the rear-wheel drive Corvette. The Corvette, on the other hand, also has a total of approximately 357L of cargo space in the front and rear, which is sufficient for a two-seater. However, there is little luggage space inside the vehicle, which can be inconvenient.

The GT43 Coupe’s specs are not to be underestimated, even with its inline 4-cylinder turbo

Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe

Chevrolet Corvette
The Corvette is equipped with a 6.2-liter V8 engine, while the 43 model GT Coupe is equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine. Despite this difference in engine displacement, the GT Coupe’s performance is not to be underestimated.
The GT 43 Coupe’s engine, equipped with an electric turbo, produces a maximum output of 421 PS and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. Combined with a 10 PS/58 Nm mild hybrid system, it boosts acceleration from a standing start, achieving a 0-100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds. While the Corvette’s 0-60 mph (approximately 96 km/h) time of 2.9 seconds is not comparable in acceleration performance, the GT 63 Coupe with a 4.0-liter V8 turbo engine and AWD also achieves a time of 3.2 seconds, so it’s fair to say that the Corvette’s acceleration performance, which is enhanced by the high traction provided by its MR conversion, is superior.
In terms of fuel economy, the GT Coupe is naturally superior. The Corvette’s fuel economy has not been released, but it is said that the actual fuel economy on regular roads is approximately 5-8 km/L, and on highways it is about 10 km/L, which is not so bad. The average fuel economy of the 43 model of the GT Coupe in the WLTC mode is 10.6 km/L.

The appeal of the MR Corvette, reborn after abandoning tradition and practicality

Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe

Chevrolet Corvette
The two cars are roughly the same price, but their appearance and drivetrain make them very different characters. The Corvette is overwhelmingly superior in terms of power performance, but when considering the usability and overall balance of the coupe, the GT Coupe wins.
The GT 63, the high-performance grade of the GT Coupe, costs 27.52 million yen, which shows how affordable the Corvette is despite having such powerful performance.
However, the Corvette’s distinctive features go beyond its power performance. The handling provided by its large-displacement engine mounted in the rear mid-mounted position, and the exhaust sound and pulsating feeling produced by its American V8 engine are appealing features that cannot be found in other cars.
