Portofino M
Ferrari has announced the new Amalfi, a model that replaces the Roma with a new exterior and interior. While retaining the long-nose, short-deck style that is characteristic of Ferrari’s V8 Berlinetta, the car has undergone a near-full model change, incorporating the latest Ferrari signature hammerhead grille.
This time, the Amalfi will be pitted against the Portofino, a coupe-cabriolet model with a retractable hardtop, but also equipped with a V8 engine mounted in the front. Let’s take a look at the Portofino M, which was introduced in September 2020. The name Portofino comes from an Italian port resort, and the “M” stands for “Modificata,” which means improved version.
The exterior of the Portofino M features design elements in various parts, creating an edgy look, while the Amalfi features a minimalist form with as few elements as possible. Both models have a wheelbase of 2670mm, but the Amalfi is 134mm longer in overall length.

The Amalfi and Portofino M are fitted with the same 3.9-liter V8 twin-turbo engine in the front mid-mounted position. The Amalfi is two generations ahead of the Portofino M, with maximum torque remaining unchanged at 760Nm, but maximum output now at 640PS, an increase of 20PS. Significant updates have also been made to areas not reflected in the specs, such as lighter engine weight and improved drivability.
The Amalfi, which does not have a roof opening mechanism, is more than 70 kg lighter in dry weight than the Portofino M, and takes advantage of this lightness to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h 0.15 seconds faster.

Portofino M
While the Amalfi features Ferrari’s latest interior, the dual cockpit layout, the Portofino M’s interior, with its large display but layout of physical switches and analog meters, feels a little outdated. However, the quality of the luxurious leather trim and seats has not faded even five years after its debut.
Like the Roma, the Amalfi offers a standard Berlinetta body and a soft-top Spider model. The Portofino M, which offers the same comfort as the Berlinetta but features a retractable hardtop that allows you to enjoy the open top with the flip of a switch, is a reason to choose it in itself. Five years after its debut, used car prices have become more reasonable, and a certified pre-owned “Ferrari Approved” car may be a good option.
