Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupe
This time, we will compare two high-performance four-door coupes: the standard grade Porsche Panamera and the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe 43 4MATIC+. Both cars have an imposing body with a total length of over 5m, a total width of around 1950mm, a total height of around 1450mm, and a wheelbase of 2950mm.
The Panamera features a design and performance that strongly reflects Porsche’s sports car DNA. While the new third-generation model maintains the same concept, the details, such as the four-lamp matrix LED headlights, give the impression of being more refined. In contrast, the GT 4-door Coupe features an AMG-like design form that combines beauty and boldness. The front features a vertically latticed Panamericana grille, and the rear is equipped with a large diffuser and four-pipe exhaust, giving it a strong presence.
While the Panamera’s interior has a simple design reminiscent of a sports car, the AMG GT 4-door Coupe has a more luxurious design. However, it should be noted that the Panamera seats four people as standard. To accommodate five people, you need to add the optional “4+1 seating.”

Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupe
The base grade of the Panamera is equipped with a 2.9-liter V6 twin-turbo engine that produces a maximum output of 353 PS and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. The transmission is combined with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), allowing for smooth and agile gear changes. The drive system is rear-wheel drive, allowing you to enjoy the light handling you expect from a sports car.
The GT 4-door Coupe 43 is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder turbo engine that produces a maximum output of 367 PS and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. An electric supercharger is added, which allows boost pressure to rise from low rpm, and a 48V mild hybrid system that provides a maximum assist of 250 Nm is also combined, so the GT 4-door Coupe will feel more powerful.
The GT 4-door coupe is also characterized by smooth acceleration and excellent fuel economy thanks to its combination with an AMG-developed 9-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, the drivetrain is a 4WD 4MATIC+, which ensures stable traction while allowing torque distribution to be biased towards the rear wheels during sporty driving.
The base grade of the Panamera is characterized by its nimble handling, taking advantage of rear-wheel drive, while the GT 4-door coupe stands out for the stability that only four-wheel drive can provide.

Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door Coupe
The Panamera is cheaper, with a starting price of 15.22 million yen. The wide range of options available means you can customize it to your liking, which is also appealing, but the more options you choose, the higher the price. The AMG GT 4-Door Coupe 43 is priced about 600,000 yen higher than the Panamera, but with its sophisticated powertrain and comprehensive basic equipment, it’s not bad value for money.
Both cars are practical four-door coupes, but the Panamera is a pure sports car, as is typical of Porsche. The Panamera is suitable for users who value driving dynamism. The GT 4-door coupe, as is typical of Mercedes-AMG, strikes a good balance between sportiness and comfort. It can be said that the GT 4-door coupe is more user-friendly for everyday travel and long-distance travel.
