Aston Martin DBX707

A super SUV with contrasting shapes

The Range Rover Sport SV is based on a luxury SUV with high utility performance, and is endowed with super sports car-level driving performance. The lowered suspension with its specially designed suspension and the lavish carbon fiber exterior give it a powerful appearance.

Based on the company’s first SUV model, the DBX, Aston Martin will launch the high-performance DBX707 in 2022, featuring thoroughly strengthened power units, drivetrains, and suspension. The “707” in the model name comes from its maximum output.

The DBX707 is 69mm longer, has a 60mm longer wheelbase, and is 135mm lower in height. While the Range Rover Sport SV has a boxy, SUV-like form, the DBX707 has a low, sharp appearance like a sports car.

The Range Rover Sport SV is equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system and a BMW-made 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine that produces a maximum output of 635 PS and a maximum torque of 750 Nm. The DBX707 is specially tuned to the base model’s 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, changing it to a ball-bearing turbo, achieving impressive specifications of a maximum output of 707 PS and a maximum torque of 900 Nm. The DBX707 is 325 kg lighter and more powerful, beating the Range Rover Sport SV in 0-100 km/h acceleration by 0.5 seconds.

How do you view the 10 million yen price difference?

The Range Rover Sport SV has a 13.1-inch curved touchscreen placed in the center, eliminating physical switches. The interior space, which is the epitome of simplicity, is one of a kind. The cockpit of the DBX707, which adopts a concept focused on the driver, is a conventional specification that combines leather and carbon fiber. While both pursue British luxury, the interior atmosphere is in stark contrast.

With a top speed exceeding 300km/h and acceleration that average sports cars can’t match, the DBX707 boasts driving performance that stands out even among the many high-performance SUVs out there. No other car can match the speed required to serve as a medical car at an F1 Grand Prix.

In the Japanese market, the DBX707 has a price tag that is 11.16 million yen higher than the Range Rover Sport SV. The Range Rover Sport SV also has more than enough driving performance, but if you want the ability to chase super sports cars on the circuit, the DBX707 is the one for you.

Vehicle price

Range Rover Sport SV: 24.74 million yen

Aston Martin DBX707: 35.9 million yen

The DBX707 is an even more powerful version of the DBX, touted as the most powerful SUV ever. Although it may be a little taller, Aston Martin's sports car pedigree remains unshakable.

Despite being an SUV, the DBX707 boasts a top speed of over 300km/h. It’s Aston Martin’s first SUV, and it delivers an astounding 707PS. The only place you can fully test such a monster is on a race track. We enjoyed this super SUV at Fuji Speedway in midsummer. (Reprinted and re-edited from GENROQ’s October 2023 issue)
