Exclusive exterior that highlights “AMG”

The high-performance SQ5, developed based on the new-generation internal combustion engine architecture “PPC (Premium Platform Combustion),” is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 gasoline turbo and a 48V mild hybrid. It comes standard with 20-inch 5 twin Y-spoke aluminum wheels.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC is a sports version of the GLC, combining a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline turbo with an electric turbocharger and a BSG (belt-driven starter generator). It features an exterior that highlights the AMG aesthetic, including a Panamericana grille with vertical louvers.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 is larger overall, 35mm longer in length, 70mm longer in wheelbase, and 20mm wider in overall width. Neither model is too large by modern standards, and can be said to be just about maneuverable in Japanese urban areas.

Wheelbase = 2820 mm

Vehicle weight = 2060 kg

Although it lacks power, the SQ5 surpasses it in acceleration.

The SQ5 is equipped with the latest mild hybrid system that combines a 3.0-liter V6 “TFSI” gasoline turbo engine that produces a maximum output of 367 PS and a maximum torque of 550 Nm with a motor, and drives all four wheels via Audi’s proud “quattro” system.

Meanwhile, the GLC 43 combines a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline turbo engine, downsized from the previous model, with an electric turbocharger, achieving a massive 421 PS, far exceeding the SQ5. It is also an AWD.

Both have an electronic top speed of 250 km/h, but the SQ5 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 0.3 seconds faster than the GLC 43.

What do you think about the price difference of over 1.7 million yen?

Like the Q5, the SQ5 also features the latest generation of the “Digital Stage” cockpit, with the 11.9-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit and the 14.5-inch MMI touch display side-by-side. Adding the 10.9-inch MMI passenger display creates a futuristic interior with displays covering the entire dashboard.

The GLC 43 combines a 12.3-inch digital meter display with a vertical 11.9-inch touchscreen. Compared to the chic black-toned SQ5, the GLC 43 offers a dazzling interior with air vents reminiscent of jet exhausts and aluminum trim in various places.

The GLC 43 is equipped with an electric turbocharger derived from F1 technology, boasting 54 PS more power than the SQ5. However, the price difference of 1.71 million yen is not small, and the difference becomes even greater when you add interior and exterior packages. Although it does not have the same appeal as the GLC 43, the SQ5, with its sufficient specifications, should be an attractive option for customers looking for a sporty SUV.
