Get Lost: Project Safari

The idea of ”driving off-road in an Elise”

"Get Lost: Project Safari" is a re-engineered version of the Lotus Elise S1.

George Williams of GF Williams, who founded GetLost, reveals that the reason for developing “Project Safari” began with the idea of ”taking the Elise off-road to its full potential.”

On April 15, 2025, Get Lost, a new automotive design and engineering brand, unveiled its first project, Project Safari. Based on the Lotus Elise S1, Project Safari is a stunning creation that combines rally-inspired performance, practicality, and design in an uncompromising package.

GetLost was founded by GF Williams, a UK-based automotive photographer, and aims to create cars that inspire emotion through the pursuit of design, engineering, and fun.

Project Safari is said to have pursued the joy of off-road driving while making use of the elegant curves and sharp design of the Elise S1. While respecting the roots of the Elise, Get Lost has introduced many of its own identities, such as a special roof scoop, horizontal LED headlights, and an interior made with the highest quality materials.

Project Safari “came about through a deep study of the form and function of the original Elise S1,” says GetLost founder George Williams.

“The idea of taking the Elise off-road may sound ridiculous, but that’s exactly why we were so keen on the Elise. The idea gave us a free rein to create. Every element was considered from scratch to enhance the individuality and capabilities of the car as a whole, not just its appearance.”

Not only style but also high driving performance

"Get Lost: Project Safari" is a re-engineered version of the Lotus Elise S1.

Rather than being an off-roader style Elise, the suspension and drivetrain have been updated for gravel driving.

Project Safari is fitted with all-terrain tyres, a fully custom-made gravel suspension system, wider ride height and front and rear tracks, a limited slip differential (LSD) and a hydraulic handbrake, all of which are updates to the driving experience that live up to the “Safari” name.

“Project Safari wasn’t just about looking good; we wanted it to drive like crazy,” Williams says proudly.

“Rather than simply modifying the Elise, we have reinterpreted it in our own way based on this platform. We have considered everything from the design to the driving experience, and pursued the joy of driving. Once you get behind the wheel of this car, you will understand what we are trying to achieve.”

GetLost’s first vehicle development project, Project Safari, is scheduled to begin customer production in late 2025.

The Lotus booth will feature a variety of exhibits, including videos, in addition to vehicles such as the Theory 1 pictured. There will also be a collaboration with Italian designer Fabio Novembre.

This time, the event will feature a variety of exhibits and talk events titled “The Lotus Theory.” The venue will also feature the Esprit S1, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary since its debut.
