BYD SEALION 7

A more imposing body than the atmosphere

Last year, the Seal was named in the top 10 of the Japan Car of the Year awards. BYD, which has steadily increased its sales, once again had a large booth at the venue this year. The crossover SUV, the Sea Lion 7, was unveiled in a presentation by President and CEO Atsuki Tofukuji.

It’s hard to tell the size of this Sea Lion 7 from the image, but with a length of 4830mm, width of 1925mm, and height of 1620mm, it has a body that is more imposing than its appearance suggests. The roofline slopes gently downwards towards the rear, creating a sporty look. This gives it more of a coupe-SUV look. To back up its sportiness, the motors it is equipped with are extremely powerful. There is one on each axle, and the specs are quite high, with 218PS/310Nm in the front and 313PS/380Nm in the rear. Naturally, the drive system is AWD.

The planned launch date was announced as “around spring,” so it seems that a large part of the specs and price have already been finalized. The press conference attracted a huge crowd, attracting a lot of attention.

To celebrate the selection of the 10 best cars of the Japan Car of the Year

To commemorate the car’s selection as one of the top 10 cars in the Japan Car of the Year awards, the company has also released a special limited edition “Edition Pale Green” version of its four-door sedan, the “Seal.” The number of units is 20 rear-wheel drive and 10 four-wheel drive, in commemoration of BYD’s 30th anniversary.
