A sharp-looking front section

The improved exterior of the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.

The kidney grille design in the front section has been changed to a sharper design, giving the car a firmer, sportier look.

The second-generation BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has undergone a facelift four years after its debut in 2020. The expressive front section, dynamic and elongated silhouette, and powerful rear section remain intact. This latest improvement further refines the sporty elegance that is the Gran Coupe’s hallmark.

The BMW kidney grille has been redesigned with a sharper design that combines vertical and diagonal bars. Large air intakes in the bumper have created a low center of gravity and a stable front section that seems to be glued to the road. The standard LED headlights consist of vertical elements for the daytime running lights and turn signals. Adaptive LED headlights with anti-glare matrix high beams, cornering light function, and blue accents are available as options. BMW Iconic Glow, which includes contour lighting for the kidney grille, is scheduled to be added from March 2025.

The side section features a long nose, short overhangs, and a gently flowing roofline that tapers to the rear, emphasizing athletic shoulders. Behind the elegantly extended side windows, the number “2” is discreetly embossed in the Hofmeister kink.

The rear section has a powerful and modern look thanks to its aggressively cut flat lights and discreetly integrated exhaust tailpipes. The exterior color lineup includes two solid colors, seven metallic colors, and four “BMW Individual” finish colors. A contrasting high-gloss black roof can also be selected.

Sporty and advanced interior

The interior of the new and improved BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.

The cockpit, which is equipped with a BMW Curved Display, also features a newly designed gear shift selector and seats, creating a sportier and more advanced interior space.

The newly designed interior comes standard in fabric, with an optional Veganza/Alcantara finish featuring contrast stitching on the instrument panel. Dynamic backlit interior trim is made from machined aluminum, creating an athletic, muscular look.

The BMW Curved Display is located in the center of the cockpit. The newly designed gear shift selector gives the interior a cutting-edge atmosphere. The newly designed seats provide high comfort for long-distance driving. The optional sports seats are manufactured by Econia, and you can choose the M Sport seats with enhanced support, seat heaters, electric adjustment functions, and massage functions.

The standard sports steering wheel can be changed to a redesigned “M Leather Steering Wheel.” This steering wheel is included in the “M Sport Package” and is also equipped with manual shift paddles. An interaction airbag between the driver and passenger seat is standard equipment, improving the safety level of passengers. The rear seats are 4:2:4 split-folding, and luggage capacity is 430L.

Four types of power units available

The power unit lineup includes two gasoline and two diesel options, with the top model, the M235 xDrive Gran Coupe, equipped with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder M TwinPower Turbo engine that produces a maximum output of 304 PS.

The top-of-the-line M235 xDrive Gran Coupe offers significantly enhanced performance. Its 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder M TwinPower Turbo engine delivers a maximum output of 304 PS (221 kW) and a maximum torque of 400 Nm, boasting a swift 0-100 km/h acceleration of just 4.9 seconds. The M Technology Package, which delivers performance focused on circuit driving, includes lightweight components, 19-inch forged M light-alloy wheels, and an M compound brake system, and is available exclusively for the M235 xDrive Gran Coupe.

The 218d Gran Coupe is equipped with a 2.0-liter inline-four BMW TwinPower Diesel Turbo engine that produces a maximum output of 151 PS and a maximum torque of 360 Nm, while the 220d Gran Coupe is equipped with a 2.0-liter inline-four BMW TwinPower Diesel Turbo engine that produces a maximum output of 165 PS and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. The 220 Gran Coupe is equipped with a 1.5-liter inline-four BMW TwinPower Gasoline Turbo engine that produces a maximum output of 157 PS and a maximum torque of 240 Nm.

All models are equipped with a 7-speed DCT (Steptronic) transmission, while the 220d Gran Coupé and 220 Gran Coupé are paired with a highly efficient 48V mild-hybrid system. Enhanced stiffness at the body-chassis interface improves agility, steering precision, and cornering dynamics.
