Audi A5 Avant
First use of the ICE platform “PPC”

The new A5 series, which succeeds the best-selling Audi A4 model, is the first to adopt the new generation internal combustion engine platform, PPC (Premium Platform Combustion).
The new Audi A5 series will be available in two types: a sedan with an electric rear hatch gate and the station wagon Avant. It is the first car to use the new generation internal combustion engine platform “PPC (Premium Platform Combustion)” and is said to incorporate many advanced technologies.
The newly developed 48V “MHEV plus” system is a highly efficient new-generation internal combustion engine technology that allows for fully electric driving despite being an MHEV under certain limited conditions, and will also be installed in the 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder TDI direct injection diesel engine and the higher-end sports model “S5”.
The interior and exterior adopt a “human-centric design” that takes into consideration the needs of users, achieving a spacious interior space with a premium feel and high comfort. The dynamic and beautiful proportions that are comparable to those in the upper segment are said to embody the traditional Audi design DNA.
The highlight of the interior is the curved MMI panoramic display. The slim, freestanding display uses OLED technology and consists of an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus and a 14.5-inch MMI touch display. A 10.9-inch MMI passenger display is also available for the front passenger seat, complementing the digital stage.
Dynamic and muscular exterior

The exterior of the A5/A5 Ambient, which embodies the new generation of Audi design, achieves a dynamic, muscular form with a continuous surface structure that reduces edges.
The exterior is three-dimensional and deeply carved, with a powerful, continuous surface structure with reduced edges. The wheelbase is approximately 70 mm longer than the previous A4, while the rear overhang is shorter, resulting in a sporty, premium silhouette with a long nose and short deck.
The A5 Sedan features a sporty, compact-looking greenhouse that arches sharply towards the rear section, seamlessly flowing into the shallow rear window like a coupe. The visually short tailgate features a spoiler lip. The arched design of the latter half of the roofline is reminiscent of the first-generation Audi TT. The electric rear hatch opens and closes together with the rear window, and its wide opening makes it easy to access the luggage compartment. On the other hand, the A5 Avant’s dynamic, taut roofline blends seamlessly into the roof spoiler. The sharply sloping D-pillars create a dynamic side view befitting a wagon.
The front section features a flat, wide single frame and a three-dimensional honeycomb pattern. Combined with the thin, precisely drawn headlights, it creates a sharp look. The blister fenders on the front and rear wheel shoulders are said to be a homage to the first-generation Audi Quattro.
The rear section combines sporty and emotional design with intelligent technology, with a sculpted design and three-dimensionally positioned light strips creating a powerful presence and visual dynamism.
The rear view of the base grade features a clear, modern bumper and a rectangular diffuser with integrated exhaust pipes. 17-inch aluminum wheels are standard equipment. The optional “advanced package” offers 18-inch wheels, while the “S line package” offers 19-inch wheels. Audi Sport 19-inch and 20-inch aluminum wheels are also available.
Cockpit with large displays

Audi’s digital cockpit stage consists of the 11.9-inch “Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus” and the 14.5-inch “MMI Touch Display.”
The A5 family’s cockpit is equipped with a new generation infotainment system. It consists of the 11.9-inch “Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus” and the 14.5-inch “MMI touch display.” A 10.9-inch “MMI passenger display” is available as an option for the passenger seat. A significantly improved head-up display is also available as an option.
A “Luxury Package” is also available, which includes a Bang & Olufsen “3D Premium Sound System (16 speakers)” and front headrest speakers. This has two speakers in each front seat headrest, allowing you to enjoy immersive sound.
The “Smart Panorama Glass Roof” is a new technology introduced with the A5 and is also available as an option. This new technology uses a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) film to minimize direct sunlight and prevent the temperature inside the vehicle from rising. The absence of roof trim provides more headroom, making the interior feel more spacious.
Newly developed hybrid system “MHEV plus”

The newly developed 48V “MHEV plus” system installed in the 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder TDI direct injection diesel engine (150kW) and S5 models now enables fully electric driving thanks to the powertrain generator.
The newly developed 48V “MHEV plus” system improves the efficiency of the internal combustion engine and supports driving performance. Compared to conventional MHEV systems, the system is comprised of a “PTG (Powertrain Generator)” that significantly reduces CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. The powertrain generator is connected to the transmission output shaft and adds up to 18kW (24PS) to the output of the internal combustion engine, and recovers up to 25kW of energy during deceleration. As a result, fully electric driving is possible under certain conditions, contributing to reduced fuel consumption. Furthermore, when the electric air compressor is operating, the air conditioning system can be operated even when the internal combustion engine is off, such as when stopped at a traffic light.
In addition, models equipped with the “MHEV plus” system use the “iBRS (integrated brake control system),” which completely separates the brake pedal from the brake hydraulic system, so initial deceleration is performed only by regenerative braking without using friction brakes.
The powertrain lineup includes two different output options: a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder direct-injection TFSI gasoline turbo and a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder direct-injection TDI diesel turbo.
The TFSI direct injection gasoline engine is equipped with a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry (VTG) and uses an improved combustion process that is extremely fuel-efficient at part load. The TFSI 110 kW (150 PS) version is front-wheel drive, while the TFSI 150 kW (204 PS) version is an all-wheel drive “quattro” version, both combined with a 7-speed S tronic transmission (DCT).
The TDI direct-injection diesel engine delivers a maximum output of 150 kW (204 PS) and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. The introduction of 48V “MHEV plus” technology significantly improves acceleration performance, achieving a maximum fuel economy of 20 km/L (European reference value). The TDI model is mated to “quattro” all-wheel drive and a 7-speed S tronic transmission.
S5 equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo

The performance-spec S5 is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 TFSI engine that produces a maximum output of 367 PS and a maximum torque of 550 Nm.
The performance-spec S5 is the first to feature a 3.0-liter V6 TFSI twin-turbo gasoline engine with a turbocharger equipped with VTG (variable turbine geometry). It produces a maximum output of 270 kW (367 PS) and a maximum torque of 550 Nm. The introduction of a 48V MHEV plus system allows the S5 to run on pure electric power under certain conditions.
The S tronic (DCT) has been updated to handle higher torque, and the lighter front axle provides nimble handling. It is said to deliver excellent acceleration and fuel economy. A rear sport differential with torque vectoring and 19-inch aluminum wheels are also standard equipment.
Global limited edition model “edition one” of 150 units

To commemorate the A5’s debut, a limited edition “edition one” will be introduced, with a total of 150 units produced. The “edition one” comes standard with various packages and a special exterior.
To commemorate the global debut of the A5 series, a limited edition model called “edition one” will be released in Japan at the same time, with a limited run of 150 units. Based on the “S line” model, which includes the “Dark Audi rings & Black Styling Package,” “Lighting Package,” and “Technology Package Pro,” many additional features will be added.
Exclusive equipment includes magnesium gray accents on the front air inlets and diffuser trim, as well as Audi Sport 20-inch multi-spoke S design aluminum wheels with three different colors. The body color lineup includes two colors: Magnet Gray and Glacier White Metallic. The interior color is a special pastel silver.
