The 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder turbo diesel and the 3.0-liter V6 turbo gasoline engine are equipped with Audi’s proprietary mild hybrid technology, “MHEV plus.”

Audi has added TFSI gasoline turbo and TDI diesel turbo models to the A6 Avant, which has been sold as a fully electric powertrain model. The mild hybrid technology “MHEV plus” reduces CO2 emissions, and the adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering provide a high level of driving comfort and agile handling.

The MHEV plus system is available with the 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder TDI diesel turbo with a maximum output of 150kW (204PS) and the 3.0-liter V6 TFSI gasoline turbo with a maximum output of 270kW (367PS). The MHEV plus system, which significantly reduces CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, is comprised of a 48V battery, a belt alternator starter (BAS), and a powertrain generator (PTG).

The PTG is connected to the transmission output shaft and adds up to 18 kW (24 PS) to the internal combustion engine’s output, recovering up to 25 kW of energy during deceleration. An entry-level model is also available, without the MHEV plus system, as a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder TFSI gasoline turbo, which delivers a maximum output of 150 kW (204 PS).

Audi AG CEO Gernot Dörner commented on the addition of an ICE model to the A6 Avant:

“We are writing the next chapter in the history of the Avant. The new A6 series offers sporty driving performance, high levels of comfort and a first-class travel experience thanks to its efficient, high-performance drive system and cutting-edge suspension technology. With the A6 internal combustion engine, we are renewing one of our most important model series.”

Avant’s highest Cd value of 0.25

A driving scene of the Audi A6 Avant internal combustion engine model.

The car combines the latest design language with the characteristics of Audi’s Avant models, such as a flowing roofline and long wheelbase. Thorough aerodynamics have been pursued to achieve a Cd value of 0.25.

The exterior of the new A6 Avant has a stripped-down design that expresses a functional and timeless personality. This policy is reflected in both the design and aerodynamics, resulting in a Cd value (air resistance coefficient) of 0.25, the highest level for an Audi internal combustion engine Avant. In addition to the large air curtains and cooling air intakes at the front, the roof spoiler and aerodynamic panels on the sides of the rear window contribute to this high Cd value.

The front and rear lights feature the latest digital lighting technology, creating a distinctive presence. The rear section with its diffuser and horizontal exhaust pipes, the long wheelbase, and the powerful “quattro” blisters emerging from the shoulders combine to create the perfect proportions required of the A6 Avant.

Cockpit incorporating organic EL technology

The cockpit’s MMI Panoramic Display uses a curved design and OLED technology, and when combined with the MMI Front Passenger Display, the display spans the entire width of the interior.

The interior’s spaciousness and cutting-edge technology create a comfortable space reminiscent of first-class airline seating. The curved MMI panoramic display, featuring OLED (organic light-emitting diode) technology, is comprised of an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit and a 14.5-inch MMI touch display. When combined with the optional 10.9-inch MMI front passenger display for the passenger seat, a “digital stage” is created that spans the entire width of the interior.

The MMI Front Passenger Display’s Active Privacy Mode allows passengers to enjoy entertainment content such as movies and videos without disturbing the driver. The optional AR HuD head-up display provides the driver with essential information while driving, displayed on the windshield. The tilting flat display shows speed, traffic signs, navigation, and more.

The soft wrap of the interior creates a warm and comfortable space that contrasts with the digital stage. Areas that prioritize comfort feature generous surfaces and soft materials. The thin air ventilation is laid out so that it blends naturally into the interior.

The panoramic glass roof creates a spacious and open interior. It is possible to switch between a light-filled space and an effective blackout space with the flick of a switch. The Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System features front headrest speakers, providing passengers with a customized music experience.
