Ferrari Roma

Amalfi’s minimalist exterior

The Ferrari Amalfi, which finally had its world premiere, is a 2+2 Berlinetta with a 3.9-liter V8 twin-turbo engine mounted in the front mid. While inheriting the classic long-nose, short-deck style from its predecessor, the Roma, the front section adopts the grille-less hammerhead design also seen on the SF90 Stradale and Purosangue. The car’s name, Amalfi, is taken from a resort town in southern Italy.

Compared to the subdued and glamorous Roma, the minimalist exterior of the Amalfi, which deliberately reduces elements, gives the viewer a more modern impression. The dimensions are almost the same, with the Amalfi being only 4mm longer in overall length. The vehicle weight is also about the same, but the Amalfi has introduced a new lightweight camshaft to the power unit.

Extensive refinements result in a 20PS power increase

The Amalfi’s engine is the latest evolution of the F154 family, which has brought Ferrari numerous awards. The 3.9-liter V8 twin-turbo engine has been equipped with the engine control unit introduced in the Purosangue and 12 Chilindori, and has been thoroughly refined, including the turbo, to produce a maximum output of 640 PS, up 20 PS from the Roma. Top speed remains at 320 km/h, but thanks to the increased power and lighter engine, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.3 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster.

Price tag of 240,000 euros in Europe

The Amalfi adopts a “dual cockpit layout” that envelops the driver and passenger in two separate spaces. The Roma’s 8.4-inch vertical LCD panel layout has been changed to a 10.25-inch horizontal display. A new 8.8-inch passenger display is also installed.

The Amalfi’s price in Europe starts at 240,000 euros. Specifications and pricing for Japan have not yet been announced, but given the current exchange rate, it is likely to have a price tag of over 40 million yen. While the Amalfi has many highlights, such as the latest generation power unit and revamped exterior, the Roma still retains a fresh look both inside and out, so it may be worth considering a used, older model.
