The latest evolved prototype is unveiled for the first time in the world

Project V
Caterham has become synonymous with the manufacture of lightweight two-seater sports cars since Graham Nian acquired the manufacturing facilities, blueprints, design, and exclusive rights for the “Seven” from Lotus founder Colin Chapman in 1973. Caterham’s latest sports car is the fully electric “Project V,” which will make its world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK in 2023.
It will be unveiled for the first time in Japan at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon, and although it is a fully electric model, it is touted as embodying Caterham’s signature “Pure. Simple. Fun.” A similar vehicle with a white body color was exhibited in 2025, but in 2026 a further evolved prototype will be unveiled to the world for the first time as it approaches mass production. In addition to this latest prototype, the Tokyo Auto Salon will also feature a panel exhibit and actual product introduction of development partner Yamaha’s “e-Axle, Xing Mobility” liquid-cooled battery pack technology.
The latest prototype has been refined to achieve the basic driving performance and safety required of a production car, and further refinement and verification will be carried out in the future with an eye towards mass production. Caterham has been under the umbrella of VT Holdings, one of Japan’s largest car dealership groups, since 2009. VT Holdings also owns SCI Corporation, the exclusive importer and distributor of Caterham in Japan.

Also on display will be the Seven 170R Cup, a car based on the Seven 170 and equipped with the necessary equipment for racing. This vehicle is eligible to compete in the one-make race series, the Caterham Cup Japan, which begins this year.
