In addition to the newly developed 2.0-liter engine, AC Cars will also introduce a new dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

AC Cars is adding an attractive option to the AC Cobra GT Roadster and GT Coupe. In addition to the 5.0-liter V8 (naturally aspirated/supercharged), a newly developed 2.0-liter inline-four engine will be introduced to the lineup from 2026. The 2.0-liter inline-four engine model will feature the same aluminum chassis, carbon fiber bodywork, and distinctive interior as the 5.0-liter V8 model.

Although details have not been disclosed at this time, AC Cobra is working with a global leader in hybrid and internal combustion engines to develop a 2.0-liter engine with characteristics suited to the AC Cobra GT series. The new power unit will be available in two tunings. In addition to being lightweight, the engine will also be significantly lighter than the V8 version thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber in its components.

The final specifications of the engine, including maximum output, are scheduled to be revealed in the spring of 2025, with the target maximum output being 395 PS. In addition to the conventional 6-speed manual transmission, the introduction of a new dual-clutch transmission (DCT) that perfectly complements the engine’s performance was also announced.

Commenting on the introduction of the 2.0-liter engine, AC Cars CEO David Konza said:

“This marks an important step in AC Cars’ growth program. Offering customers engines with different performance levels will broaden the appeal of the AC Cobra GT series and enable us to enter markets that impose higher taxes on larger engine displacement.”
