Freedom of movement and freedom of expression

Ionic 5
Hyundai Mobility Japan unveiled its fully electric hatchback “Ioniq 5” and concept cars based on the compact EV “Instar” for the first time at the annual New Year’s custom car festival “Tokyo Auto Salon 2026” (Makuhari Messe, Chiba).
The theme of the booth was “Plug into Freedom,” and the company showcased concept models that utilize the power supply function of EVs. First, they unveiled the Ioniq 5, a collaborative project with MIYAVI, a world-renowned guitarist and actor who has appeared in Hollywood films, featuring a guitar amplifier and oversized Fender speakers mounted in the rear, proposing the fusion of music and mobility. As a fully electric model, it is possible to connect guitars and drums and play a full band anywhere, even without a power source.

MIYAVI also attended the press conference, where he spoke about the background of the collaboration and introduced a promotional video for a song he wrote for the project. He demonstrated the possibilities of the free lifestyle that EVs bring, combining freedom of movement and freedom of expression.
A concept model of the compact EV, the Instar, was also on display. This model features an outdoor traveler-style crossover, showcasing a car lifestyle that incorporates Hyundai’s EV concept into everyday life.
